We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

So as I am working on the catboat, a guy asks if I would look at another boat that needs varnish stripped and sanded. Yeah, sure. So Robin heads over with "Phil" to check out this 40' sailboat and I gave him a price and the owner's said go ahead. Now we see one another frequently around this boat yard and i doin't know if he thinks i am a guy who just likes to dress/look like a woman. or if he believes that I am a woman. I have no idea! So yesterday he asked me to look at yet another boat, a Nonsuch, weirdest looking sailboat ever, possibly (apologies to anyone who has one!). Anyway, we get to the ladder and "Phil" says, "after you, maam". So I think, "OK, that's settled" but later that day I was leaving to go to Boston, and I had changed into shorts and a "flowey" top, and freshened my makeup a little, and he looked at me kind of weird, lile he... less

Some of them are below and I have put my own little twists on them as well, so sit back and enjoy.
1) Don't worry about saying things like "Ok, see you later", "See you tomorrow", "Keep an eye out." or even "look out." and then suddenly look guilty. These are
just several everyday phrases and we won't be offended. Blind People can't see. In fact 96% of people registered blind have some vision that can range from
seeing light and dark to having enough vision to read a newspaper or even ride a bike.
2) Sitting to close to the television will harm your eyes Sorry, there's no evidence to suggest that sitting too close to a TV will damage your eyes. Sit where ever you
are comfortable. Phew, I was worried there for a second, as when I was a kid, I had to sit in front of the TV all the time until I was given a low... less

I remember to have been stuck by a bea for a number of years ago and I remember to have written a tranny related poem about the incident. As a token of that I received a Tranny Web (which Gender Socitty used to be, for those who were not around back then) neckless. I am proud to say that the neckless is still in my position.
This was the positive part of this post. Now comes the not so.
I was stuck by a bea just for two hours ago without a tranny connection and it hurts. A bea sting is less than comfortable in any situation but it just happens that I suffered a nerve inflamation - or neuresia if you prefer - yesterday. Alas, I just cannot wait for the pharmacy to open to buy pain killers. Especially as the neuresia was in my heart area. I am grateful to the good doctor who explained me the difference between neuresia and a heart attack, not a bit less because he could not avoid to... less

It's not that I mind wearing them, but the weather is just too warm! A skirt is much cooler on days like this. However, it's not a good look with a large bandage around my calf though.

Thank you all, my friends, and especially Katie, for being patient with me. I have quite a lot of talk about but it will not be so easy to talk. I specially appriciate that Katie was kind enough to allow me a presence here.Maybe I shall find back to honest talking with my old friends.
Starting with the latter, I recently needed to look at my toenails. They have been red for a couple of months but the thought came to my mind that another colour could be usable.
Alas, sisters, do any of you have ideas about the color? Black, blue, yellow or green? less

I had a discussion over private messages with Katie. She was kind enough to give me a go ahead for my wish to look around in this place to see if any old friends might be around. I want to say hello to everybody and anybody who would know me and also get to know persons who I have not yet had the pleasure.
I have quite recently taken the step of outing myself as a transvestite. At the age of 56, it is not too early by any means. From the positive reactions by my old friends (who have always known me as a man) in Facebook and elsewhere I have concluded that this should have been done much earlier. Better late than not at all, though.
Having lived in Estonia for the last three years, I visited Finland last week for the first time during these three years. The compelling reason was the funeral of my mother. I was naturally dressed as her son in the funeral service rather than a daughter but my sisters and their children knew... less

I joined this site when it was TW back about 6-7 years ago now and was a chat hostess as well as being in overall charge of the forums, a role that passed to Christine who I have no doubt has been admirable. I left just as this site, GS, was launched and I won't go into details here as to why, as some of it is personal. I spoke to Katie at the time and decided to keep my account active, because, well, as a great man once said, "I'll be back!" And so I am. I hope some of my forum posts were useful to new members reading them for the first time, and I am looking forward to seeing old friends here as well as making new ones. My apologies to anyone over the last two years who has sent me a friend request. I wasn't ignoring you, I just havn't been online. For me, I woke up this morning and saw brightly colored leaves being lit by the sun.
How peaceful it felt. What really made it special was contemplating how far I've come as Michelle.
The denial, guilt and worry about what others would think are long gone. They have been
replaced with a peaceful feeling of exploring who I truly am and a sense of wonder at my new
perspective of the things around me as Michelle.
It will be a while before I can afford to do the FFS , Lipo and SRS procedures that I want, but for now,
I can enjoy just being me inside. less

Today had been long in the planning – an afternoon hours long photo-shoot with a professional photographer. i had taken advantage of an online special offer back in July last year and then arranged for Mistress’ daughter, a qualified beautician, to do my make-up and accompany me on the shoot along with Mistress. The timing had to be today because it was the first and only day for a long time that we were all in town.
Yesterday, i visited Mistress’ daughter and did all of her ironing while discussing what i would wear for the photo shoot. i had already got my maid’s uniform at her house but also took along a maroon faux leather mini-skirt and a pretty blouse to wear on the way to the shoot and for the first part of the shoot. i also took along some red lingerie and some black and we decided on the red. So, this morning, i arrived in good time at Mistress’ daughter’s house... less

The card came with instructiuons that I may have to present ID when I first use it(!). Anyway, I bought some new "scanties" and brought them up to the counter and presented my new card. The clerk, a twenty-something woman, asked for my ID! So, I presented her with my male drivers license (a CDL for driving 18_wheelers noless!) and my other credit card. "OH!" she said...to which I added she was the first person to know (which she was, in person at least). I told her I was changing to her "team" and she asked how it was going. I said it is awkward and embarrasing at times. She says, "There is nothing to be embarrased about, it's just how you are." I thanked her and asked if my new card was all set to use, "Yes, you're good..." and "good luck.". What a nice person...

And now I'm looking at bras that are too big and wondering if it's worth it. I've considered augmentation in the past and decided against it. Now I'm wondering if I'm going to have to do it anyway. I'm not going to decide right now. My target weight is still months away and I'll have to talk it out with my SO.
