We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

I end up with the eye liner and mascara on my eye even the next morning. It still does not want to come off!
This keeps me from practicing with it, which is what I need to do. I can't have black eyes the next day most days because I'm still in transition and not ready to present female every day.
Please! What do I use to get it off!

Even if I was not a girl, I would like eyeliner.
Just sayin'.
So here's dopey question #1: after applying make up or if re-using a brush with a different color or product how do you handle makeup still on the brush?

The company's that make these products can and do make false statements on packaging. They know once you have opened it and it fails to do as it says on the pack you are stuffed.
No worries I am here. I have to face thousands of people daily and I do try to look my best. At the age of 57 which I am now I get by fine but I now try before I buy. I go to different beauty counters and ask for samples "Free samples" . Some are full size and some are half size but at least they are free so if they fail then it has cost me nothing but my time , and its fun anyway. So to bring this forum "Make up tips" Back to life I am going to review a new product every week I am a member here.
I try to use minimal make up but I do need it to stay there all day , I cannot be arsed to keep touching it up. So this week I discovered a new product that works out to be 75% cheaper than the one I have been using for years now... less

Two coat of cleart polish followed by a coat os Sally Hansen Big Matte to give a complete flat finish. So I have three coats of clear and no one but me knows. Splendid!

I used to chew them, so I started growing them out a bit and applying clear polish in order to avoid doing that.
One disadvantage of the clear polish is that it looked hideous when I got dirty under the nails. I decided to accomplish two goals: hiding the dirt until I had a chance to clean underneath, and start showing more of my feminine side to the public.
I experimented with several colors and have settled upon a new color by Sally Hansen. The color is #210, Shall We Dance. The reason why I like this color is that it is very thin and slightly more pink than my natural nail color. I started with wearing just one coat as an experiment, which does show but not much. I then graduated to two coats, which hides more of the underneath while also being slightly more pink. I am now wearing three coats all of the time.

I usually just say , don't lie when they say I look in my early to mid forty's. Officially with the life I have had I should look about 134 years old. They ask what is my secret?. I do not have one. My make up takes me about 10 minutes to apply. It is very minimal , yes I do have a few wrinkles but over doing it with foundation will make them stand out. When you apply foundation you could do as I do , just a tiny blob (less than half a pea size) blended in on one side of the face and nose then the same for the other side. Then a tiny blob on the chin blended downwards and sidewards on the neck.
I use no moisturiser morning or night , the one thing I do use is a facial scrub morning and night. A good facial scrub will remove any dead skin , that also removes all traces of make up , it feels good too. Keeping your pores clean is very important , at night or day after use with the facial... less

So while i am waiting for lazer, and am gettiing all those grey hairs zapped by electrolysis, I have discovered a product that actually WORKS! It is Clinique Face Scrub for men. The difference between teh men's version is "a cool menthol feeling" (there is) and supposedly softens facial hair. So this morning, i showered and shaved, then used teh face scrub. The shaved again. Big difference. No razor burn and definately closer shave. Try it, it is about $18 USD, but you only need to squeeze out about 1.5 inches or so to so your whole face. Should last a while, well, depending how much you shave! Don't leave it out and brush your teeth with it by mistake!

Have decided to start out from the begining and am looking to pick the brains of all you lovely girls.
Looking for advice on what you would consider are must haves in any make-up kit. Tips, tricks, no-no's, online resourses, everything and anything really.
would really like to move away from the " slap it on and hope for the best" method.
I will cherry pick what I can from the previous posts, but am sure new products are always coming out.

First order a taxi/cab . Now prepare everything clothes shoes and now the make-up . Your still nervous aren't you? Go fetch that litre bottle of Whisky you were saving for an occasion like this , now open the bottle and pour a glass full and drink it , feeling better? Thats good. Now sit at your dresser with all of your make-up in front of you , What you are still nervous? Have another glass of whisky .Come on pull yourself together! Clip your hair back away from your face and apply a thin layer of primer to the whole of your face untill it is smooth.
Now lets start with your eyes! Your still nervous? Ok just one more glass of Whisky then. Now choose two shades of eye shadow that suit your eye colour and complexion .
Your still nervous what is wrong with you? Ok have another glass of Whisky , ok you must be calm now half the bottle has gone.
Are you ready? Good now take an... less
