We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

Anatomical texts construct simplified and universalized models of culturally constructed, binary sexed bodies that strongly shape our understandings of the body and "normal" female and male traits
The anatomy of the breast as represented by textbooks exemplifies a problem of “normalcy” in anatomical knowledge production and transmission. I am a graduate student in anatomy and couldn't help but notice the severe lack of diversity in ALL of my textbooks. Bodies normally come in all shapes and sizes imaginable, so why are we teaching one body type as the "normal" type?
In order to graduate, I am required to construct a teaching project. I decided to write my own text on the human breast, with a focus on breast diversity. One of the first considerations I will make about female sexual anatomy is an... less

The country seems to be divided between those that can shout the loudest and those who have given up. That's sad when you think about it. I try to be non-political but that doesn't seem to work. I have to take a stand- am I for the country being taken over by the few that feather their own nests or do I want a revolution. I'm against blood letting. But it seems as if my blood will be let.
There appears to be a group that wants power no matter what -they want to run the country and the citizenry be damned. Elections do not determine the voice of the people but the voice of money. Money is power. Am I wrong? less

He is pushing his luck to far now. He has isolated himself and is now in a corner. So what will his next move be? He is testing the defences of NATO countrys by entering air space that is out of bounds to his forces. He is flying military aircraft into commercial airspace with transponders switched off creating near misses that commercial pilots are only escaping by seconds. This cannot continue without his luck running out , he cannot use luck as a weapon. He knows that other countrys are cutting spending on defence and he continues to increase his spending. After the fall of the Berlin wall the Cold War that I lived through came to an end. I remember that time well and I can now see it all over again. Brinkmanship is not a game! One misjudgement and we go from the... less

Well some bright spark in the house of commons must have looked in the electors role book and said "Hey look Julia Ford lives in Ipswich so send the infection there" Why Ipswich? Oh and Norwich was mentioned too which is in my previous county. I do not even know if this should be in polly ticks (I never spelt that wrong) I think lunatics would be more appropriate.
This is not racist but I for one am getting sick of reading about muslim nutters cutting innocent peoples heads off for fun. It is a virus and it has invaded the world. How does a virus start? It is at the start a mutation that then spreads. How did this virus start then?. Well as 75% of muslims marry their first cousin I guess it is interbreeding out of control. Then there is the fact that the adult male marrys a 12 year old female or even younger sometimes. It is a recipe for disaster , they have most likely not even had their first period... less

Rumanian man, getting £834 plus £56 childrens allowence, plus £736 A MONTH rent allowence. thats every 28 days. Apparently they are saving up to buy a house in Rumania.
No wonder this country is going to the dogs, people who have worked all their lives, get a state pension of only £460 every 28 days. Something seriously wrong. Makes me bloody angry. How many more.

One might think that as a veteran, I would come down hard on this trade, but i don't. The US has two conflicting laws:
We don't negotiate with terrorists, and We don't leave our military personnel behind on the battlefield. Now which trumps the other? I happen to side with Charles Krauthammer (ok, ok, sit down, c'mon) who said those in the West “put a value on the individual human life the way that the ones at the other end of the table don’t,” specifically citing an example in which Israelis had to release 1,000 terrorists in exchange for one sergeant who had been taken captive. Exactly, do we want to bring our morals down to the level of the Taliban, who behead captives and hang them up for display? I didn't think so. If he were my son, yes, I would be embarrased. Yes, if his desertion proves to be the case, then he should go in front of a court marshall. But I would be so thankful and overjoyed he was home and in the hands of civilized people. Just my... less

He has got the world by its balls really . So how can any country stop him? Answers on a postcard to Mr Obama. The underground bunker some where in the USA . Its not just Obama though is it? Camawrong can't do anything either.
Russia can handle sanctions it is more than self sufficient , they can harm other countries to much by cutting off gas and food supplies , Germany needs them and Eastern European countries cannot get by without them. So what is the answer? I think it is safe to say this is the start of another cold war but , the last one I lived through in the 1980s lasted years before they came to their senses. How long can this one last? Not years , not months , a matter of a few weeks at the most before the first shots get fired then it gets hot not cold.

Another unwinable war and the ensuing aftermath, yes its terrible if the Syrian government used chemical weapons. but will a few well aimed rockets, deter the government policy there. Iraque, Afghanistan, whatever we seem to do, despots extremists will get back into power, greed and avarice, business as usual.
What does concern me we only seem to worry about the plight of Middle eastern countries, oil producers, there is more murder and oppression in African countries that seem to go unchecked. Syria no troops on the ground, justs strategic missile strikes, we all know just how strategic those strikes can be, more innocent people killed, all the refugees fled to turkey and neighbouring countries, why don't they go back and fight for their own freedom and salvation?

conservative members of parliament spend on average 2hours 27minutes a week in their constituencies of which is included the 10-12 hours a day they spend there during local elections and parliamentary elections. Cabinate ministers spend on average 17 hours a week in parliament (wondering how much of this time is spent in the subsidised bars and restaurants in the Palace of Westminster) and 7 hours a week in cabinate. Whilst I agree, they do a dangerous job and i am not deminishing that, they signed up knowing the risks and get paid for it. if we are going down this road, should the sexual abuse and murder of inoccent children not carry the same penalty.???? Case in point - there was the fertilizer plant which had a fire. The fire caused a terrific explosion. The explosion wiped out half of the town. The latest news - lawyers (no offense intended Crissie) from all over the state are signing up people for a class action suit.
You may ask "What about the people's homeowners/renters insurance?" The insurance companies, which insured the fertilizer plant, are jointly suing the fertilizer plant's owner.
Confusing to me but that seems to be how things are handled. If you don't like something - sue.
Of course you'll have big trouble suing a "mega corporation." They have a bunch of lawyers waiting to slap you down.
Any comment?
This isn't a blond moment.

They can make laws, it's not going to do us any favours, more resentment, hate. Acceptance should be through education and information, not forcing bigoted people to included us. Can you imagine a devout catholic priest, vicar, iman, conducting a ''gay marriage'' because thats how most of them see us, unaturals, an abomination of all thats holy a threat to their teachings and scriptures.
you might say, its your right. is this a step to far. Crossing the line?
