As I sat on a park bench,
Gazing at an idle wench,
A cat of many shades saw me,
And jumped down off it's nearby tree,

The cat did fix me with a look,
And with a wink its head it shook,
It pointed to a daytime star,
And said we'd come so very far.

************************************
All cats in this world today,
Come from there to here and play,
Travelling on a special night,
When the planets line up right.

************************************
Some go quickly in the nights,
Others stop to see the sights,
Drawn on woolstring from a ball ,
And many never come at all.

************************************
But some get caught between the stars,
Some get stuck halfway to Mars,
Some go back and others stay,
It's their choice come what may,

************************************
So if a cat of shades see's you,,
Be prepared now to review,
The fact that they are not from here,
And you might not be either, dear.
