Hi All,
This is a game I've seen on other forums, and it's quite fun. The rules are simple and easy to follow.
1) Post a song title with at least one word matching the prior person's post. It can be removing or adding plurals (ie. girl -> girls; or jumps -> jump). It cannot be an exact match of the prior title even if the song itself is drastically different.
2) You can't post more than one song in a row. Someone else needs to post before you can post again.
Recommended:
It's best to include the artist so that we can better identify the song. If you don't know who recorded it, try searching
ASCAP or
BMI for the names of everyone that recorded the song and pick the one you recognize. This can also help if you don't know the complete title of the song. You can also search for all the song titles a performer has recorded, if you remeber their name but can't remember the song title.
Also, don't post other messages in the middle of the thread, as it makes it too hard to follow.
Examples:
Alisha posts:
"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper
Kristi posts:
"Girls Night Out" by Miley Cyrus
Jane posts:
"Time Out" by Count Basie
Alisha posts:
"Time In A Bottle" by James Croce

....."I'm the man"................ Joe Jackson

"My Love My Life" - ABBA
"Tender Land Suite" - Aaron Copeland
(songs don't have to be pop music, but anything we can look up easily by what you give us about the song)
"A Neverending Dream" - Cascada
"Love is just a four letter word"............Joan Baez
(By-the-by....I notice the in-built censor is doing it's incomprehensible thing......an earlier posting of mine here has been edited out because of four letters in the singer's name......Joe C***er!)
Lynn
Hey Joni, you must have a small record/CD collection....you've done "Don't go breaking my Heart" by Elton & Kiki twice!!
Lynn
"Trapped in the Drive-Thru" - Weird Al Yankovic
"Bad to me".......Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas
Lynn
(I think Ann must be in a parallel universe here....)
Karen, it's easy to miss someone posting using the word "the", or "a", or "an" to connect two songs, so here's a new rule to help with that:
When posting, please highlight the word in your post that connects it with the prior one.
For example:
Karen Brad posted:
Bad To The Bone==== George Thorogood
Ann Carpenter posted:
"Trapped in the Drive-Thru" - Weird Al Yankovic
(I attempted to add these instructions to the first post, but it wouldn't let me. Is it possible that an admin could do it for me, please?)
Hugs,
Ann
Resuming the game from Lynn's last post:
"Don't forget to remember me" - Carrie Underwood
"The Night Santa Went Crazy" - Weird Al Yankovic
Ooooo, well you're quite the group, wanting it to be more challenging. Sure, we can change it to no hooking onto short words like articles. That's a new request for me, as I've run this game on a couple other boards before and never had anyone ask for that rule change. So be it! I agree it should make the game more challenging.
"Because the night".....Patti Smith
Lynn
"Karen by Night" - Jill Sobule
"Blueberry Pie" - Bette Midler
This is not America - David Bowie
"So Young" - The Corrs
"Viva Forever"....Spice Girls
"Sixteen Going On Seventeen" - from the Sound of Music
Oops!!! Looks like the Train crashed on the way from being Vain as it went to being Blue! lol
The timestamps look like both people saw the prior post and responded with correct answers. But there's two ways to avert this:
- Do your research before you click Reply and Reload your screen before posting to make sure no one else posted while you were thinking about it. (That's what I do cuz sometimes it takes me a while to come up with something!)
- Check the thread right after you post to make sure no one slipped in a post before you did, and if they did, then change yours using the Edit button.
Looks like I'll post off of Song Sung Blue so we can keep going!
"Blue Suede Shoes" - Elvis (many others as well)
"Blue Bayou"......Roy Orbison
Lynn
"Christmas At Ground Zero" - Weird Al Yankovic
Song Sung Blue.........Neil Diamond
"St Louis Blues"... Duke Ellenton
"Soldier Blue" - Buffy St Marie
"Soldiers for Christ" - Jill Sobule
We're past 100 posts! yay!
"Boy Soldier".....Johnny Clegg
(By the way, "Song Sung Blue"..Neil Diamond has been entered twice.......do pay attention!)
Lynn
Looks like we hit a design flaw in the Trannyweb forums (see my post in Technical Support about it). Lynn posted off post #100 at the end of the prior page - it pages every 100 posts. (Lynn, great song title btw.)
Be sure you're on the correct page to see the end of the thread before you post, girls!
"Rude Boy" The Uptones

Ok this thread is now closed and a new one has been started (thanks Karen!) called Song Swap 2.
It's been fun seeing all the song titles going by and all the activity. I'm really thankful how much you girls have participated!
Hugs,
Ann
