  • Wow! Sounds like the government there is treating transgendered persons in a whole lot more enlightened manner than here in the USA!

  • Yes Steave, it gives Obama something to think about. In fact the e-mail sent out to those that did sign the petition says;

You signed a petition asking the Prime Minister to "ensure that the safety of the Transsexual, Transgendered, Intersex and gender-queer Communities is not placed at risk by insisting that harmful data is kept on the National ID Database and that many should carry hold 2 ID cards, identifying them as belong to both male & female genders."

The Prime Minister's Office has responded to that petition and you can view it here:

    Prime Minister's Office

I think even though I have transitioned fully I still haven't changed my name because most people don't know my real name anyway so it's not so important but I would love to have two ID's one day so I can use them when ever they are needed.

Take for instance today. I went to send money to a friend via Western Union and here in France WU is at the post office. When you come as a woman but present a male ID with a male picture it's not fun or maybe that what it is...? fun? I don't feel bad about it but I feel sorry for the person that needs to deal with it as so many times they get shy and confused. Sometimes they don't even know what to do or what to say so I feel just sorry for them. Imagine you first say "Madame" and then you see the ID so in fact you're "Monsieur" but look like Madame. They must feel like a fool and that’s why I feel sorry for them.

  • Teacher teacher! Can I ask a dumb question? If nobody knows your real name, then why don't you just change your ID to match what you go by? Even here in the U.S. it turned out to be no big deal to get my name changed, it can't be any worse over there.

  • There is nothing like dumb questions Marsha because people ask questions to get answers. Why I did not change? Now that's a good question but I don’t want an ID that says Natalie and male as gender. When I change my documents it must ALL be Natalie as born female or else you just feed databases and computer systems with two things “Natalie” and “male”. Now when you’re after some years have used “Natalie” and “male” how will you go by correcting all the wrong data in thousands of databases to say "Natalie" and "female"?

No, no… I think changing name before gender just creates more problems then showing a male ID with a female face because showing ID you do only once in a while but your name goes trough computers and databases even while you sleep and they do so together with your “male” as gender.

Will I change my name? When I feel the time is right I will as for now it’s only "problem" for others, not for me and I know it’s a problem for others about how to deal with my ID when they ask for it and I feel sorry for them and I can’t deny that but at least it gives them something to talk about.

  • So let's see if I understand this right. 1. You say you are fully transitioned. 2. You say you have no plans on having SRS unless you win the lotto. 3. You won't change your name until you are fully recognized as a born female. 4. And you are worried about your name in databases with a male gender.

Did you ever stop to think that there are millions of other people in the databases and nobody really cares who the heck you are? Is your biggest concern in life making sure you get the appropriate junk mail? Do you think that just maybe anybody it would matter to would figure it out anyway? Do you have any additional conspiracies going on over there that we need to know about? Since you are fulltime, do you like getting contacted by people calling you the guy name that is currently on your ID?

    Hugs,
    Marsha

  • Marsha I think you totally missed the point here but I will not get into any trap here on TW ever again.

But yes SRS will come when I have ALL the money for it on my account as it's too easy to loose the deposits if you can't pay the full amount in time. They sign a contract with you that clearly state this.

  • I did not sign that petition for the simple reason that I think it wrong to want two ID cards and it would make an awful mess to allow two cards as the potential for fraud and crime of all sorts would be enormous.
I say pick a gender and stick with it. Then anytime you want to be out in second gender rely on the Hate Crime and Anti-Discrim and Zero Tolerance laws to help get along in the second gender.
In the UK anyone is allowed to change their name anytime they want and be known as that in practically all things.
Lawyers have to sign a legally binding document of name change for just £5.
Allowing 2ID cards for anyone in the GLBT spectrum would open the door to enormous bureaucratic, fraud and crime problems that would far outweight the very small inconvenience that any GLBT in cross gender mode might find themselves in.

  • Partner Rose, I signed it because I think it's was right because I did not just think of myself but simply because I knew the "problems" I face with it having just one before I can change to “female”. Having two ID's can for sure be used for fraud but then again how often have you seen they ask "are you known by another name?" I know for sure when you apply for visa or arrives in other countries this question would be asked and would you then answer yes or no?

I think if you got two ID's and answer No you will be stopped before you start as the police etc. knows the real data about you and they are not stupid to let you go away with it. But on the other hand if you answer Yes and give the right detail you will be OK with two ID's.

Also when or let's say IF the ID's are issues in two genders everybody that needs to know will simply ask the same question "are you known by another name?" and the problem is solved or am I just too blue eyed?

Another thing is that so many transgender has problems with getting jobs so the be “male” for a short period of time for then to “come out” to it’s employer could also be a way where I see having two ID’s could be used and I don’t consider that to be fraud.

  • LOL Partner....anyone who is serious about transitioning needs to get the name change officially so they are protected by EU laws.
What transexual wants to be male for anything? Don't answer that.

  • I already did answer this on Marsha's question, which is fair enough is it Rose? Like you and the rest of you in here... NONE of you know my real names just "Natalie Angel" and basically that's how it is in my real life as well. So changing name does not mean anything to me and I don't want to have Natalie used officially with the "male" stamp attached to it.

And I know because there is some very bad people in here that uses identity theft I should really take it as a lesson learned and remove my picture and icon.

    ==================================
So it's removed and I will not upload any new images unless I use the cartoon offer that Katie recommend. (I guess she knows why she did offer this service in the first place)

I agree with Rose, you should pick a gender and stick with it.If you are a true transexual, there is no such thing as "Almost Full Time".You either live full time,(and that means 24 hours a day seven days ),or you don`t.......PERIOD!!!!.I can`t understand how any TRUE transexual would be comfortable having a male name and documentation.I could not do it ,it would drive me mad.It makes me feel sick if I receive any junk mail in my old male name!!Anyway there is no excuse for having duel identitity anymore. Here in the UK you can change all your documentation to the correct gender apart from your birth certificate,if you are pre-op.I started a new job recently and had to have a CRB check done. They rang me up after a few weeks to tell that I had filled out the form incorrectly.I asked why?,they said I had a female name and title but had ticked the male box where it asked you for your gender.
So I explained to them that I was a pre-op male to female transexual and that I thought I had to tick the male box because that is what is still on my birth certificate. She said it did`nt matter anymore, she said if I am living full time as female I can put female on any documentation, and I did`nt even have to declare my old name if I did`nt want to,it`s all confidential now.So she changed my gender to female there and then over the telephone, like it was an every day occurance.......amazing!!!
So my point is.......and I know some of you will disagree with me........there are no excuses in modern society for duel identity if you are a TRUE transexual.......you are either committed or you are not........if not then you are not a TRUE transexual,so please don`t waste my time with your petty arguements.

  • I dont see a problem with anyone having multiple identities regardless of whether they are transgendered or not. Each card will cross reference to each other anyway. Further more, I'm transsexual and this dual identity thing doesnt apply to me, but I just wanted to point out I cant see why anyone cant have multiple identities.

  • Well, it doesn't appear that Natalie is able to stick with a single choice of nasme to begin with, having recently chsnged her name from Anne Selene Euthenasia to Natalie Angel, so maybe she needs some time to settle on a name she's happy with.

  • i dont think theres a need to have 2 and it would be silly complicated in terms of the law i would never want to write a law that covers that

i currently have a male name and identity

the name and sex on this website what i have shared in confidence with you all is what i will change it to once me and sarah are moved in together and settled in and i go full time 24/7/365

If you have changed your gender and obtained a Gender Recognition Certificate
If you are at least 18 years of age and have gender dysphoria and have been living in your acquired gender for at least two years, you can apply to the Gender Recognition Panel (opens new window) for a Gender Recognition Certificate, which will enable you to obtain a new birth certificate showing your new gender and name. The new birth certificate can be used as documentary evidence of your change of name thus avoiding the need for a Deed Poll.

  • RLE and the completion off, to get a GRC depends on having lived the life for the prerequisite time as specified. that entails living in the name and magaging your affairs in your new gender chosen name. Changing name by deed poll allows this, passport driving license, bank cards and bills. And basicall your RLE officially starts when you have registered and made those changes. So what you are advising is basically rubbish.

  • Free deed polls, documentation all explained in my law forum. basically if you don't change your name and start living the life, your GRC could be delayed years. Being know as John bernard Smith on all your details not exactly conjusive to being accepted, officially or socially. I can remember traveling backwards and forwards to the continent, with a passport in the name Cristine Jennifer Shye and having a couple of letters of intent and verification from doctors. before the GRA came into force. and I was actually saying don't listen to Natalie she talks rubbish

  • No problem, Lola. a lot of those links lead you to believe you have to pay to get a deed poll done and registered, you don't you can do it all yourself, in certain cases, it might be desirable from a self inter4est to register it by swearing an afidavit in front of a commisioner of oaths about, £9, only really applies if your a ward of court and have financial interests held in trust.
