Woo Hoo, Cato has a store right nearby, but I never heard of it before now. It's in a shopping area that's not upscale compared to the nearby mall, so I've never gone there before, but just wait for this weekend. I'll see if they are as great as reported; I'm hoping they are.

    Hi Briana-

Waaahhh! <Joni stamps her foot and pouts prettily> Darn it, apparently there are no Cato stores west of Arizona. Oh well. I did bookmark their website though, they do seem to have some very nice things. Hopefully they will be expanding to the Northwest sometime, certainly there's a huge market here in the Seattle area.

Thanks again for mentioning them. Happy Holidays, girl.

    Hugs...Joni Mari

Hi Janis, It's always great to find a place like that, and I know I have told you this before, but you always look great in all of the pics you post. Have a great Christmas, and a safe New Year.

    Hi Briana-

Thanks for the tip about Cato's. I had never heard of them, but I'll certainly check online and see if they have any store here in the Seattle area.

Merry Christmas to all and happy shopping!

Hi Joni, There should be one close to you somewhere. The stores are usually small store fronts, mine is in with a grocery store in a quiet corner of the parking lot. The ladies there are fantastic, they have really nice shoes in larger sizes. Some of there clothes are a little .....conservative for me, but they have a lot of stuff that is my style too. I will say that their web stuff positively does NOT do them justice as far as the things they have. If I just saw their online adds I would never go to the store. The great thing is every Tuesday they change out most of there inventory with new stuff, and a lot of the old stuff goes on clearance. So it's like a new store every time you visit. Shop on girl, and have fun, Briana

My favourite store was a small local clothes shop (long gone now), run by two women called Irene and Margaret. Both girls were very understanding and there was no problem trying on dresses etc. They were also very helpful and honest, it wasn't just a case of "You look wonderful in that, would you like a carrier bag." The place really was a Godsend to me when I was first starting to try and create a convincing female image.

Hi everyone, I shop at a few stores around my place, but I can tell you I have one favorite. Cato's Junior Misses, I know they are all over the U.S. but I don't know about the UK. When I go out, sometimes I pass, sometimes I don't. I can always tell 2 seconds after making eye contact where I stand. The Ladies at my Cato's know I am TG and they always treat me with complete respect. I feel so good about my experiences there that I wrote an email to their corporate office and said that I frequently shop, and buy at your store. I am always treated very well, and that I love their store and their clothes. I told them that it may not seem like a big deal to most but I am trans-gender and it means very much to people like myself and that I would be telling all of my "sisters" about their wonderful store. They thanked me for my comment and actually forwarded my email to every one of their stores to use as a customer service training tool. I think they have a customer for life. I don't know if any of you have ever shopped there but if not, it may be worth a look.
    Hugs,
    Briana

    Hi everyone, i'm new here.

I'd say macy's is my favorite, I go near closing (i don't shop en-femme..  :-(  ), i'm more worried about the other patrons in the store than the staff.  Macy's staff is awesome!   I've bought a beautiful blue satin evening gown, the cashier was so nice- never patronising, just very sweet.  She told me she though the dress was very pretty ( it was), but was ultra professional.  I'm a Chicago person, but if this is how New York (macy's HQ) works, well, I love NY too!

Lord and taylor is okay, lots of cute dresses, but the cashier was a little cool.  She was a little slavic, and it might have just been the general aloofness of people from that area, but she was in no way rude or uncomfortable.

I managed to get her 3 times in a row, i can't wait to get another cashier.  I got some PJ's from L&T-  men's styled women's sating gre PJs, and the cashier either thought i was a really cool husband or a very tasteful CD.

I also got weddign dress from a local small bridal shop.  They are since out of business, but i went in right before they closed, told them what I wanted, and returned the next day at opening.

Carmen had a number of samples for me to try, I made up a story about halloween, but she knew it was BS, and she didn't care or push the issue.  If you are polite and considerate, you get it back.  She helped me try a few gowns, then had to do some business...  I could not reach the zipper of the dress so i was stuck in one of the dresses for a good 45 minutes.  She thought that was kind of funny, I of course got that gown, the whole experience was super.

The best thing to do is simply ask ahead of time.  It shows you have concern for the seller's business, and if the seller is cool with TG business (90% are) you have made a really good ally.

I also got a pink satin ball gown prom dress from JCP,  I had to return it and get another size fro another store.  The cashier was a young girl, but asked if i wanted to try the dress on to see if it fit.  I freaked a little at such an open invitation, (i'm now really embarrassed by that), but again, near closing, people will be very accomodating.

Ebay is also a great place, 90% sellers are super sweet and supportive, the others either say nothing negative or let it be as a simple transaction.  Very professional.

it actually boosts my faith in our country- to see so many people adapting and accepting non-traditional clients.

    Enough soapbox.

    hands down: Macy's.

I recently discovered this clothing store just down the road from me, via my local Women's Institute. I visited their factory shop the other day and wasn't disapointed. I love their country colours and designs - the company is based in the English Lake District and specialises in warm, 'country living' style clothing. I particularly recommend their denim skirts. The pleat at the front is great, meaning I don't have to worry about gaffs and such like. https://www.tulchanonline.co.uk

This post is mostly for us girls who HAVE to order online since our feet are bigger than 12's in womans. I seriously have NEVER seen 13's to 17's available in any department store. Besides online shopping the only way is special order and who has 300 dollars to pay for a single pair of shoes.

I'm about to try http://www.aliexpress.com/ online. It is like a chinese Ebay and yes they are real. Prices are cheap and they have a decent amount of large sizes for those of you like me. I've seen womens sizes go up to 17. The selection takes some digging but they are out there. China has so many stores it is mind blowing. I've honestly yet to buy shoes from them but have bought some costume jewelery and hard wax through them there with no problem other than it takes almost 3 to 4 weeks for your package to arrive.  Way cheaper than anything else I found on the web. Make sure you use size conversion charts! China makes things much smaller but many of the links to stores do have coversion charts listed.

Also Blondies Heels for You http://www.heelsforyou.com/shoestore/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=115&sort=20a&page=2#.VKrHbmccTct has reasonable prices.

Jan had turned me onto this site too which has some nice shoes at a fairly reasonable price. http://us.longtallsally.com/c/tall/footwear?bftUrl=%2Fcategory%2Fshop_all%2F

Enjoy your shopping and careful running in those heels ladies Tongue outWink
