Pandora's Box

This is a poem I wrote. I was inspired by a conversation I had in the chat room here on GS. Don't judge my poor writing abilities too harshly

    Pandora's Box

    Don't open that box!

The box of splendor and pain

The box of spoils and filth

The box of freedom and slavery

    Don't open the box!

The box of truth and lies

The box of the genuine and the false

The box of courage and of cowardice

    Don't open the box!

The box of life and death

The box of pleasure and pain

The box of love and hate

Do not under any circumstance open the box

It contains  an ugly yet beautiful truth

That bears the weight of a hundred locks

A situation that would seem most uncouth

    Don't open that box!

What lies inside may disturb you

Or liberate you from a life of woe

And open your mind like prayer in a church pew

    Or destruction it may bestow

So for the Love of God do not Open that Box!

Smash it into a Million pieces and let yourself Out

    Thanks for reading.

    HUGS!!!

Masi,I thought this piece very provoking and heart piercing.Of course the fact that when the original Pandora's box was opened only hope was left inside only makes your writing more poignant....Love It
