What's the hold-up now?

  The latest blow is that the subscription software we've been waiting on for months, may not now ever be available.  The people who are supposed to be developing it appear to have lost interest.

  This is not a piece of bespoke software but rather, something which was going to be a plugin for our community software and available to all who use it.

  After months of waiting for it, they've just said they may not ever release it, which is a real setback for us.  It was a fantastic system and would have meant that our existing Full Members could have been brought across to the new site without any disruption whatsoever.

  Now I don't know what we'll do.

  We could have the software written just for us but that would cost a small fortune (which we don't have).

  We could wait and see if another developer comes up with something similar but we could be waiting for months.

  We could change our business model, offer everything for free and hope that we can make enough to pay our bills from advertising alone.  Sadly, I don't think that would work.

  Where is Elton John when we need him?
