Site testing continues apace. We finally got the Member Connections thingy working yesterday and I'm most impressed. It looks really good and I think when we get over 30,000 membership moved across from the old site, it will be amazing.
This job is a bit like building a new cruise ship. The technology we're using is all state of the art and the site is just fantastic in comparison with our old stuff. I can't wait to let our members in here.
Like building a ship though, it does take a long time and always way longer than originally envisaged.
In the meantime, members on the old site continue to moan and complain about it or just quit because of its poor design. I so wish I could show them our new stuff and then I'm sure they'd stay.
Still lots of stuff to be done before we'll be in a position to unveil this masterpiece though.
We've got to get the Content Management System (CMS) in place and they haven't even finished writing it yet.
We also need to sort out the payment gateways to deal with our existing subscriptions and also new subs. That's also still in development.
However, I am hoping to take possession of our new membership cards program later today. That should be a real improvement on the previous incarnation and it will allow our members to print out their cards. They'll be exactly the same size as their credit cards and will be easy to laminate.
The Events system is still not working properly although slightly better than it did and we also have a problem using Facebook logins, although I suspect that could be down to FB.
