I love it when a plan comes together

It's Saturday morning and I really feel that things are starting to come together now.

Eric has fixed the Who's Online problem and has promised to get back to me with a date for installing the new chat room.  We've also discovered a new messenger system which will be much better than the one we had originally intended to use.  It appears to be easier to configure and Eric has already had some experience of integrating it into the rest of the system.

There are still a few niggly bugs to sort out but we're getting there.  The new chat and IM should really revolutionise the way the site works.  I think it's going to be a real milestone.

We've invited some of the membership to have a go at our new blogger before it get's it's official launch in the next issue of The Trib.  Haven't had much feedback yet but there are a lot of new blogs appearing.

We'll soon be getting going on our Great Trannyweb Survey of 2004 - the last one was two years back and led to the simple message boards we had then, becoming the large and busy community you see today.

Our main concern for the present and the future is funding.  We don't receive any grants and rely only on advertising revenue and membership fees.  Together, they just about pay for our hosting bills and a little towards new software.  The rest of the bills are paid for by muggins here, but I can't afford to continue like this.

With the advent of new and more expensive software being used and the possiblility that we may need to move to a larger, faster server, we will have to address the funding situation as a matter of urgency.

What we really need is for Elton John to make a large donation which will pay our hosting and software costs for the next ten years!
