Cursed

Sometimes I think that we are cursed.  Honestly!

I have spent much of the last three months working on the September issue of Frock Magazine and yesterday, it was finally finished.  When it was all uploaded and tested and found to be working correctly, I started work on a big advertising campaign to let all of our members know that it was published.

Among other things, this involved sending out over 30,000 emails.  I was hopeful that we would be able to bring in a good number of new Frock subscribers but how wrong I was.

I let the mailing go on overnight so it must have finished at around 2am.

In the morning I checked my email, expecting to see lots of new subscribers but there wasn’t even one.  Not one!  How could that be?  Our magazine was well crafted and a good product full of the kind of articles and stories that TG people love so what could have gone wrong.

I immediately started checking the Frock web site for problems at our end but couldn’t find any.  Then I saw an email from a potential customer who had given up trying to subscribe to our mag.   Tried subscribing myself and was blown away to discover that a notice had been put in place of the payment page, which said, “This product is no longer available as it has violated our Terms of Use Policy”.  What?

The payment gateway in question, had already approved Frock Magazine so what was the problem?  I checked my email and found nothing from them telling me of any probs with our account or products.  Then I checked the account itself and again there was no mention of any problems at all.  Even the product itself was showing as “Approved” on their site.

Yet they had scuppered any chance we had of selling good numbers of Frocks  in this quarter.  I was absolutely livid.  I wrote to them telling them so but have not had a reply yet.

How dare they mess up our business like that.  If they had a problem with Frock they should have contacted me and said so rather than telling all of our potential customers instead.

Irrespective of what they have to say, I think we will drop them now as they obviously cannot be relied upon in future.  Oooooh, I’m still soooooo cross!

And Boy George hasn’t sent his answers back either!  I knew he wouldn’t.  Things just don’t seem to go right for me anymore.  Like I said, I think we're cursed!

  • Melody Anders Hi Katie, It does all sort of sound familiar - deja vu all over again. Wish there was something I could do to help... But when times get tough, remember there are thousands of us who love you for all you've done. This too will pass, Melody
