I had the first day in my new job today and it went very well although it is a change of role for me and there is a lot to take in and figure out before I will become comfortable with it. Although my qualifications are in youth work and that is what I have been dong until now, the closure of some centres left me without a job so I applied for a position as a PA, partly as a laugh really since it is a 'feminine' role traditionally. Imagine my suprise when I was invited for interview and then later offered the job! They do know who they are getting as well, since I wore boots with heels, make up, earrings, bootcut trousers and a blouse to the interview, and that is how intend to carry on. To be honest I have no choice anyway I have no intention on going out to buy male clothing.Yuk!Ultimately, I will be returning to youth work at some point but this is proving to have a nice 'feel' about it, maybe because of it's traditionally female role. I do know it's going to be crazy at times though since I know what the workload is like. Oh yes, in a couple of weeks I have to attend a two day seminar with the other PA's and secretaries in the service, that should be interesting since guess who will be the only non GG in the crowd!Nikki

I had to get up at 4am not 5, oh the price of beauty!! (Well, looking reasonably okay on a dark night then, lol). The session went well though and I know I have had laser before, I can feel and see the results very quickly. My face is so smooth there isn't a trace of hair and it's never been that good before, I am so impressed! Nikki

Tomorrow is a good/bad day. Good because I have another electrolysis appointment. Bad because it means getting up at 5am, with 36 hours hair on my face, driving for 3 hours, going through some pain and finally ending up with a face like raw meat for a few days, lol. It takes me about a week before I can see the effects, but of course it is all worth it. I'm going to treat myself to some new shoes as compensation next week though! No pain no gain? Pah! If there's pain, I want some gain!Nikki

Once again imsomnia strikes, I think I have had about six hours sleep all weekend. Urgh! I get imsomnia from time to time anyway but this weekend was worse for some reason, and now I am just feeling so tired. You would think that being so tired would ensure a good night's sleep but it doesn't work that way. On the plus side.........................no, I don't think that there is a plus side.Oh well, eventually I will just drop and will sleep for about ten hours straight.Nikki

Katie in either her wisdom or desparation has recently appointed me to the role of 'Forums Supremo' or words to that effect. Basically, I will take over the role occupied so successfully by Sarah Connor and will oversee all of the forums and appoint the necessary moderators. I'm really looking forward to it. Ever since accepting myself, (rather lately I should add), I have always wanted to put something back into the community and hopefully give someone else the same kind of helping hand which I received myself. Without wanting to change too much about how the forums operate, because generally speaking they are very good, I do want to see them used much more and by more people. I know a lot of girls read them but don't necessarily comment, which is fine, we all do that. But I don't want them to be seen as exclusive either or intimidating to newer members who may feel that they are unqualified to respond. Time will tell, but I hope I can do a great job. Nikki x

This could really get to be monotonous if it wasn't for the fact that the end result will be worth it!I have a very sore and bruised eye as I had to undergo another operation on the eyelids, nothing serious just pure vanity about my looks. The first attempt didn't work at all so they had another go this week and it looks like it has been more successful. I still think it could have been better but then as a woman I'm never satisfied about my looks!I also started electrolysis last week, oh such fun! The woman is lovely though, and thorough, so I have made some further appointments there. Ouch! The downside of electrolysis is having to not shave that morning so they have some hair to work with and since I'm dark.............well, you see the problem. I cheated and booked in at 8:30 so I could travel under cover of darkness, lol.The clinic was very nice though and included all kinds of treatments from hair removal to make up to hot stone massages. I will be treating myself to some of those later I think........Nikki x

I realised that my last blog was a little downhearted which is not a mood I like to find myself in, although even I can't be 100% bubbly all the time! That's also why I chose to put it in here instead of in the forums, that's not the place to have a personal gripe. I was upset to see people leaving but of course, it happens and it's not like I haven't made any other friends here because I have, some very good ones in fact. I think it was because so many faces that were here when I joined had disappeared.I am looking forward to the new look TW and can't wait to see it up and running. I was in chat on Friday and it was a blast as well, loads of girls in there and buzzing like the old days everyone reminisces about. The fun is still here, sometimes you just have to be proactive to make it happen and that needs new 'core' members who keep things flowing along nicely. I'm not going anywhere and will be here for a long time to come yet. I not only get something personal from TW, I also like to be able to put something back.Nikki x

It seems every day I log in, someone else has decided to leave. I have lost so many friends this year that I really don't know why I bother to keep coming here any longer. Okay, I haven't lost my friends, we still chat on IM or email but there has been a mass exodus this year, and like a road full of refugees escaping a war zone, it is growing all the time. I don't know where it will lead to in the long run but it doesn't bode well. So many of those that left are what I would consider to be 'core' members, paid up, some of them moderators or hostesses and all willing to contribute to TW in a very positive way, it's what attracted me in the first place. Now for the most part, they have left and TW is like a house with all the children gone. Sad, lonely, with no echos of laughter reverberating through the rooms. Nikki

Finally, a quiet week, the first one since July actually, apart from my little weekend in Paris. I got so much done this week it was amazing. The house has been cleaned thoroughly from top to bottom, the garden has been cut back and readied for the winter, I caught up with pieces of work I had to get to students of mine, managed to get some guitar practise in and still found time to run every other morning. I have just started the next course in my other degree though so I need to squeeze in some time for that too. It keeps me out of trouble at least. Well, sometimes. I have also been able to find more time to spend in TW doing my duties which has been great. There are so many new faces here that I feel I have been away for ages. It's lovely to get to know them all though as meeting new people can be a real privilage sometimes. It's going to get busy soon again though. I have several gigs coming up starting next week, then I have a week in the UK getting some more eye surgery as well as a post op check on my nose. Still, it's all for the better though so I am certainly not complaining. On top of that we are already planning a nice girly get away for next year. Somewhere in the sun so we can work on our tans and relax. I think maybe the Canary Islands this year. There's also Christmas to look forward to as well, wooohooo!Nikki

Carren and Danique that is.Actually, they are, of course, lovely girls and very friendly and hospitable. I stayed with them last weekend and had a very nice relaxing time, which I needed. We just had some nice walks and good food, (they are both very handy in the kitchen by the way),watched some movies and gossiped. As you do!Now to some people reading this they may be thinking, 'where is the shopping? Where did you go?' etc. Sorry to disappoint you there but we didn't do any, we just had a chilled weekend and in my case, with some pleasant company too. Thankyou again girls for letting me stay, I look forward to seeing you sometime soon. Don't worry, I'll bring the Bisto!Nikki x
