There's only time for a quick line today. I have soooo much work to do. I have to finish off the Tranny Tribune and a zillion other things. I know it's nearly two months away but I am already worrying about Sparkle. There an awful lot to organise and I'm worried that we won't have enough helpers on the day. We have to get our tent and tables and stuff, onto the site by 10.30am and then put it up. Then we need people to help run it during the day and then we'll need another small army to help with taking it down and returning it all to the TrannyVan (which I'll have to hire for the weekend). So please do think about volunteering to help if you can spare an hour or two, especially if you can help with erecting the tent and/or taking it all down. Otherwise, it's a grey old day here and it'll probably rain soon. I'd best get on or there will be no Tranny Trib this weekend. Hugs, Katie x

With a little over two months to go to Sparkle, I am getting really, really, really excited about our small contribution.  This will be my first Sparkle.  Last year when I should have been there, I was in hospital having just had a heart attack so I am especially happy that I'm still around to go along this time (fingers crossed). This year we are actually among the sponsors so we will be going all out to make a big impression on the tranny community.  It's come to my attention that there are still a number of TG people who have never heard of Trannyweb and that just won't do.At "Sparkle in the Park" there will be a number of tranny related retailers and suchlike, with stalls and stuff.  We are hoping to have a marquee which we have already dubbed, "The FBT" (you work it out). Here's a photo of it...We'll be needing quite a few volunteers to help us with putting it up, running it and then taking it down on the day.It would be unfair to expect any one person to be around all day so let's have shifts.  If you fancy helping out for a couple of hours or so, please let me know and I'll put you on the list.I'm hoping to use the FBT to offer a classy lunchtime buffet for our Full Members (yet another reason to be one).It will also be our base for the day (Saturday) and all of our members will be welcome to pay us a visit. This year we are also fielding the Trannyweb netball team so please come along and support them.I do hope that as many of our girls as possible will be able to come along to Sparkle.  It's going  to be great.  Please don't miss it.If our marquee is a success, then I think we might try putting up an FBT at various transgender events in the USA, Canada, Australia and various other countries too. By the way, while we're on the subject of Sparkle, we have been nominated for an award which will be presented to the winner at Sparkle this year.If you haven't voted yet, please go to:http://www.sparkle.org.uk/TG%20Awards.html...and please do vote for us in our category if you want. Some other news...We are about to have our next software upgrade.  This happens about once every 18 months.  This means a number of really cool improvements and new features but there could also be a few bugs too, so please don't be cross if things suddenly don't work right anymore.  If you find any bugs, please just let me know and I'll get them ironed out. We've just got a new forum - Karen Brad and Carren Tate's Tranny Fun Forum!  You know all those funny email s you get from friends and colleagues at work.  Well this forum is going to be full of them.  Please do go along and post some yourself. There's such a lot of other stuff happening at Trannyweb right now.  It's a really exciting time and I'm so pleased to be involved.I'll try to write my blog a bit more often in future. Thanks for being a Trannyweb member.  We love you.Huggies,Katie   x

Okay, so I only blog about once a year.  Sorry.  Pressure of work girls. We have recently been working on the look of the blogs and continue to do so.  I hope you like the new look.  There will be more changes (for the better) to the blog pages in the coming days and weeks.Your web mistress is still run off her feet, as I was in my last post, over a year back and I still haven't had time to finish my book.  However, I can at least now tell you what my exciting little job was.  I was working as a film extra on a movie which has now done the rounds in the UK and which is currently in cinemas across the US and Australia.  It's called "Hot Fuzz" and it's an "action/comedy" about a hot shot police officer from the big city who is posted to a quiet little town in the country, a million miles from anywhere. It's actually really good.  I'm so glad I wasn't in a turkey.  I was only expecting to be needed for a couple of weeks but ended up doing over two months on it and got to be in the background quite a lot.Of course, I'm not appearing en femme so if you do see the movie, you probably won't recognise me.Still, it was a lot of fun.  Just a one-off though.  I'm not going to be a film extra for a living.  Too busy with TW.More next year.Hugs,Katie   x

My blog entries seem to get further apart.  Sorry it's been seven months but I'm doing the work of six people right now so I have very little time.Trannyweb has undergone a lot of changes since last October.  We've moved to a new server, had a software upgrade and a slightly new look (that's actually happening right now and isn't finished yet), we've got a new chat room going live very soon (we hope), and we have several other projects on the go which will sap even more of my time.It is quite true I believe, that time is our most precious commodity.I have been trying for ages and ages to find the time to finish my book, which I started several years ago.  It's not because it's some kind of epic that it has taken so long but simply because I am already working seven days a week from around 9am each day until well into the evening.  When will I find time to write a book too?Well, everything will just have to go by the way for the next couple of weeks because I am going away.  I'm doing a little job that has nothing to do with TG.It's very poorly paid and I'll be doing 12 hour days (maybe more), but most of the time I'll just be standing around until I'm needed.  It will be quite glamorous and a lot of fun though.  It's just a one-off and after this two week period I will probably never do it again. What could it be?  Jury service?  Nope!I did start telling everyone about my exciting little job but then Wendy Larsen reminded me that when you blab your mouth off things always go wrong. That's true, it's happened to me soooo many times before.  So now, I try to keep schtum about exciting things until they have passed. So if you don't already know, I'm afraid you'll have to wait till the next instalment of my blog to find out.I love a cliff-hanger, don't you?Huggies,Katie   x

Okay, so I'm not the most prolific blogger.  However, I have been very busy trying to run this community.  It's becoming a more and more demanding job, even with help from my friends.A lot has happened in four months and the site has changed a great deal in that time.  I will try to blog again very soon and go into a bit more detail but suffice to say that a lot more changes are planned for the coming weeks and months and all, I hope, for the better. Stay tuned for more... Hugs, Katie   x

Hello girls, My monthly report is starting to become bi-monthly.  It's all down to time really (or lack of it). A lot has happened since my last entry on March 27th.  We've been accepted into the folds of American Express (still not good enough for PayPal though) and we also added some silly Tranny games to our list of features. Our girly nights out in May in London and Baltimore earlier this month were wonderful.  I went to the London event and had a great time. We have started a new auction site called TrannyBay which I hope will become a marketplace where us special girls can buy and sell clothes that no longer fit and just about anything else you can think of.  It's been going for one full week now and so far I have to admit that it's been a total, complete and utter failure with only two people actually posting auctions and that was only because they felt sorry for me. I have tried so hard to make this community a success but recently I seem to have the Midas touch in reverse. Anyway, as Mr Micawber used to say "Something will turn up" - I hope. We have got a few more little projects on the go which may be revealed in the coming weeks and Cerys, Clair, Rhia and Katherine are still working on our web site re-design.  I hope we can get some of the new pages up and running quite soon because I don't know about you, but the old yellow and blue colour scheme really doesn't do it for me. I hope there will be some good news to report in my next blog entry, which I also hope will be a bit sooner than this was. Hugs, Katie   x

Sorry I don't get time to post in my blog more often.  It's Easter Sunday and I've been sitting at this computer, answering people's queries, solving their problems, sending emails and working on our new navigation system since 9.30am.  Now it's 10.30 pm and I'm very tired. I'm hoping that we can get our new menus operating some time tomorrow and that we can fianlly say goodbye to the old list of buttons that so many people disliked. Cerys, Clair and Rhia have also been working the new look Trannyweb.  It may be a while yet before it's in place but it's coming soon to a computer near you. Our Trannyweb Girls Night's Out are looming and so I've bought myself a new blonde wig.  It arrived yesterday and it's lovely. Otherwise, our money troubles continue but I won't bore you with the details.  Suffice to say that we are very poor just now.  If you know anyone who is a Basic member, please persuade them to upgrade to Full Membership.  We really need your help with this. Also, in an act of desperation, I've installed some Google ads near the top of every page.  Please click on as many as you can every day.  Each click is only worth about 3c but every little helps when the bailiffs are at the door. I hope that when I make my next blog post I'll have some better news and won't sound so depressed. Thanks and hugs, Katie   x

Times have been very hard recently and they're getting harder.  I'm not a depressive person (honest) and am normally bright and upbeat about most things.  However, I can see from looking at the tone of my blog so far, that I've done nothing but moan and complain. Sorry.  I think it's because I'm not used to being a loser - I need to win.  However, no matter what I've done to try to make Trannyweb a success over the past few years, I have always been thwarted and we continue to go downhill. If we had been a business that relied upon a steady income to pay it's staff and other bills, we would have been bankrupt long ago.  However, we have no premises to pay rent for and I have not had to worry too much about having a salary since I received an inheritance two years ago and that has kept me and us going. That money is starting to run out now and so we really, really, really do need to make Trannyweb into a proper business that will pay for itself or I'm afraid that it will go under.  This is especially true since the lost our PayPal account and more than two thirds of our membership subscriptions and since the news this week that Metacharge have lost us about two thirds of the remaining subscriptions because of an administrative error at their end. If we were just a silly hobby web site then I don't think many would miss us, but Trannyweb is so much more than that for so many people. Since 1999 I've received many emails from trannies who had been right on the edge and who found friendship and the will to carry on when they discovered Trannyweb.  Those girls wrote to me to say thank you for their lives! On another level, the vast archive of forum posts we've amassed over the years is so rich with information for those just starting out and those who are just trying to find themselves - it would be tragic if the world were to lose that. In a last ditch attempt to try to turn Trannyweb into a proper business that does not rely on handouts, I have today written to a marketing company in Los Angeles to see if we can work together to make it a success. I have also started working on a new and huge Full Members recruitment drive but I just can't do it all alone.  I really need your help to try to sell the concept of Full Membership to every Basic member you speak to. Please be a Trannyweb sales person.  If you are talking to a basic member, please ask them to click on Upgrade in the main menu and become a Full Member. If you are talking to anyone who sells you tranny-related goods, ask them to advertise with Trannyweb.  All they need to is drop me a line at katie@trannyweb.tv to get the ball rolling. Tell them about banner ads on the site and tell them they can have an ad in The Tranny Tribune which is sent to every member monthly (next week's will go out to more than 24,000). I do appreciate your various offers of donations which will help to keep us going in the short term but to make sure we never get into this situation again, we need to change and we need to sell our community to everyone we meet. Thanks and hugs, Katie   x

I'm at the stage now, where I'm almost scared to check my email because every time I do there's another catastrophe waiting for me.   The latest is this.  Our other payment processor (Metacharge) have informed me that because of an administrative mistake, all of the subscriptions taken out by our members paying in US dollars since last July, were cancelled after the first payment.   All this time I thought it was because they just didn't like us enough to carry on with their subscriptions.  This means that since the middle of last year we've lost a further two thirds of our remaining subscriptions and hundreds of dollars or more.   It seems as though every single day there is a new blow or some new disaster to contend with.   I think that having a huge Full Membership drive and getting more advertisers onboard will be the only ways we can avert a crash in the coming weeks.  I wish I could find a marketing company who would work with us but those I have approached up to now have shunned us, with most not even bothering to reply to my letters.   I guess nobody said that running a community for transvestites and transsexuals was going to be easy.   Anyway, thanks again for all your support girls.  We'll get through this.   On a brighter note, today we unveiled our new TrannyCards facility at:   http://gendersociety.com/perl/community/postcards.cgi   It's not meant to be a serious thing - just a bit of fun for the girls.  The cards that the software comes with are not really very appropriate to Trannyweb so hope that some of our more artisticly talented members will be able to come up with some better ones.   Hugs,   Katie   x

When I posted my last blog entry a week ago, I could have no idea that the coming days would bring us to our knees. It took about two and a half years to get our PayPal account and our membership software working in harmony.  Eric and the gang in Canada have spent a huge amount of time on it and right up until a week ago, PayPal were still moving the goalposts. Several members subscriptions were either changed or cancelled without any intervention from us or the members.  We laid the blame at PayPal's door as they had told us that subscriptions can not be changed by anyone else. Then suddenly, without any warning, I received and email that simply said that our account had been closed. At first I thought it was a prank sent out a bored teenager in Korea as I've had similar spoof PayPal notices before.  Then I tried logging into our account and the awful truth dawned on me - we really had been closed down. This has been a terrible few days.  More than two thirds of the subscriptions we have worked so hard to sell have been cancelled - just like that. I can't believe that so much time, so much work and so much money has simply been wasted. Although the girls have rallied round and have tried to help, I'm still very sad because so many of our plans for 2005 will now have to be shelved because of lack of funds. We're now back to a situation where we may not even make enough money to pay for our monthly running costs.  That's very bad. Sorry to sound so grim but times is hard.  I wonder what is likely to happen next? Hugs, Katie   x

  • When I posted my last blog entry a week ago, I could have no idea that the coming days would bring us to our knees.
