I'm not sorry, I was having fun

I have the smartest child in the world. I took my now-9 year old daughter on Friday to the King Tut exhibit at the Field Museum. She has already decided to be an Egyptologist when she grows up, so this was well worth the money. She astounded everyone in the exhibit with her extensive knowledge of Egyptian history. She was amazing. I just let her do all the talking. I would also have her read the descriptions and tell me what it all meant.

Things are moving great with Lexi. We’re trying to get together as soon as possible. We’re on the phone as much as we can, considering we’re on two different schedules.

As for my new museum job, after a very short training period (shorter than the co-workers who started with me), I am already interpreting my first role, and that is a train engineer from 1934. I introduce myself by my drab name, then I swiftly say "But you can call me Mere for short." The funny thing about this job is something I mentioned a few weeks ago – one of the supervisors is named Meredith! It constantly throws me off when someone says her name.

Last Wednesday the Associate Dean sat in on my class. This is standard procedure. They needed to see me in action to determine if I will be rehired next term. Since he wants to have a follow-up chat with me on Monday to discuss next term, I am taking that to mean I will be back.

In ten days I see the endo to find out about the hormones. I can’t wait.

I am so sleepy tonight. Thankfully I don’t have to report tomorrow morning until 10:30, so I can sleep a little later.
