My department had a sunset cruise on Lake Michigan Thursday night.  It was a good time.  We were on one of the large cruise ships that dock at Navy Pier.

On the way over they chartered a double decker bus, complete with a docent.  Uh oh.  I used to do that but on the boats!  I got a little vocal when this docent got some of her Chicago history facts wrong!  Mere, shut up!

The boat was beautiful, with multiple decks, two bars, etc.  This was my first time being out on the lake since my job on the boats two years ago.  Looking out over the skyline, and even seeing one or two boats from my old job, I had memories of what it was like two years ago.  I was still struggling but finding my way.  The museum was just around the corner.  The funny thing is I remembered how two years ago I would be working the boats while a party went on.  Now I was in the party!

The museum encouraged people to dress up for the cruise, if possible.  I made so many open comments about wanting to wear a cocktail dress that half the people on the cruise asked me where my dress was (including the Director of the department!).  I calmly explained that I gave Josie the dress I would have used for that occasion - which is the truth (Josie looks so pretty in that dress!).  The girls really dolled up so nice that I became jealous.

I had a chance to talk to a coworker we nicknamed "Chopper" because of her style of dress.  I came out to her, and she was completely into it.  She offered me any help she could give.  On the way back she sat with me up on the top deck.  I swear, Juan Valdez and his donkey moved faster than that bus.

A few weeks back a male coworker found out about me, although accidentally.  There was this beautiful t-girl going to take a U-505 tour.  When Mary Mulberry asked me if I would be looking like her, she did so in front of my friend Jefrey.  Mary really thought Jefrey knew about me.  No big deal, so I came out to him.  Again, I was accepted as I am, and nothing has changed in our friendship.
