As I posted in the Forums last week, I told my Senior Coordinator - essentially my boss - that I am TS.  He was so cool and supportive about it.  I am getting so close to being fully out.Today is Josie's birthday.  While finances kept us apart, I am happy she got out for a while.  She went downtown for a while and wound up going to a party.  I was glad she wasn't just sitting at home, even after a hectic day at her job.  It pains me that I could not be there in body, but I was there in spirit. The first issue of "Frock!" is out.  I love it.  There is a lot of good reading there.  I really like the many differeent directions that TW is heading.  Jump on in and participate!Karen Brad is making plans to come out here to visit in a few weeks.  I haven't seen her for 3 1/2 years.  We'll make a trip out to the suburbs where she can meet my family, especially my sister.

Here is an extremely short version of last week:Josie was here last week for five days.  Her plane got in a little early but we were looking for each other in two different places at the airport.  She came to work with me the next day - both the museum and my class - where I proudly showed her off.  Everyone who already knew Josie was glad to see her again. The next day we left for our trip downstate concerning her mother's memorial service.  We stayed with her relatives who live in St. Charles, Missouri, which is just outside of St. Louis.  Josie had either not seen in years, or even met, some of these folks prior to our arrival, and they treated us like royalty.  They even treated us to a delicious Chinese buffet.  We stayed in the most beautiful home.  Chris, her second cousin whom she never met, could not have been a better host when we showed up.  We sat outside on this lovely back porch where we had a beer or two before I got so sleepy from the trip I had to take a little nap.  Josie's Aunt Joan and cousin Barbie were two of the most charming, and down-to-earth, ladies I ever met.The next day we made the trek to Ellis Grove, Illinois.  We had to wait for a while for some of the family members to show up, and the memorial service itself lasted barely ten minutes.  In order to pass the time while waiting, I was going around reading the dates on the tombstones with the intentions of remembering who was president during that year.  Afterwards we all went to yet another delicious buffet lunch.  One of her aunts had a hard time figuring me out!  Her entire family was wonderful and I hope to see them again. We figured to make our way back home that same day, although the trip would have been at least 5-6 hours.  As we came up on Springfield, Illinois, we saw the dark storm clouds.  We did not figure the storm to be as violent as it was, and visibility was literally at zero.  We pulled under a bridge for protection for a short time.  Josie was previously talking about not going all the way back home but stopping for a night at a motel.  We used the storm as a reason to do so and spent the night in motel in Bloomington, especially since there were tornado warnings. The next day we then stopped by my parents' house where Josie met them for the first time.  They got along famously and Josie certainly got their seal of approval.  Josie really took to them, especially my dad (who talked her ear off, as I said he would!).  Her and my mom had a great time getting to know each other and there were hugs all around when we left.  So, we both survived meeting the families! The rest of the weekend was spent at home where I cooked some nice meals, we watched movies, the Blackhawks game, walked along the lake, and just generally had some time alone.  I called off from the museum on Sunday to be with her.  It was difficult to take her to the airport, but it had to be done.I hope to get there next month for her birthday.  Oh, but what a time we had last week!

A few weeks back I went with my kid to her therapist.  My kid had questions for me, all of which I answered honestly.  Things are much better between us, and we still see each other all the time.  On occasion we do make a small joke about my being TG.  She is still not ready to start spending the night here again and I am not going to push it.I am getting a bit frustrated professionally.  The museum is starting to become redundant.  I have asked for new training, and I put in for a promotion, although I know who will get it (and she does deserve it).  HOWEVER - I have been going in on Saturdays, which is a day off for me, to work the U-505, and have been having a great time down there.  Then, on top of it all, I was put in the coal mine on Sunday.  Again, I had a fantastic day.  I love working the coal mine on a Sunday.I am still looking for that elusive full time teaching spot.  My current school, though, provides me with the opportunity to do some wonderful classes, so I am having fun this term.  I also have proofreading to do for my book.  I need to recognize that I am pretty lucky with what I have, and not to fret over what I don't have.I am also telling more and more people about me.  I am getting so close to just standing up in the morning meeting and making the announcement.Anyhow, I am out of time!  Off to work!

As I wrote in the blogs, my kid pretty much figured it out about me.  And, as you know, she didn't take well to it and I didn't see her for a while.  She has been going back to her therapist, the same person who helped her through the separation and impending divorce.  I am supposed to go there with my kid sometime within the next week or two.I don't know this shrink, so I told my ex there might be a trust factor involved.  My ex, though (who has been known to exaggerate at times), did tell me what the shrink has been telling my daughter about TG persons, and it was positive.  The shrink also mentioned how important it is for me to stay on Trannyweb as it is a support group.  My ex would never make up something like this.  At least I am back to seeing my kid again.I was supposed to be going to L.A. this weekend but it was postponed.  I lost no money off the plane ticket as the airlines does allow me to cancel and use the ticket/ticket money at another time within 12 months.Of course, within the same week my kid found out, I was held up by gunpoint and the next day my uncle died.I came out to some male coworkers last week, and they could not have been more supportive.  When I said "Don't worry, I'm not into men," they both said "We don't care!"  But many of my coworkers have noticed a dramatic change in behavior, and there has been an outpouring of concern and support. So, for right now, I am waiting to see what is going to happen next so I can make some important decisions.  One decision that is all but made is that I will move out of this flat when my lease is up.  I plan on getting a place even closer to the museum than where I am now.  It would be nice to be able to walk to work.More to come.Mere

Okay, so it was last weekend, but this is the first I have been able to write about it.  Me and Josie had another great weekend. My plane going out to Denver was early.  Josie got a hotel room for us.  I will NOT recount what happened in there!  As if you can't guess. The big thing is that I am finally going out fully en femme.  On Friday night we first went to a little Mexican pot luck party/dinner hosted by one of Josie's co-workers.  While I was in drab mode, Josie always introduces me as Meredith. When that party was over we went back to her place where I got all dolled up.  I was wearing my cute burgundy dress, heels, black hose, etc.  Josie did my makeup.  We then we to Tracks, which on First Friday is a lesbian bar.  I felt so comfortable and at ease, although my heels started to hurt towards the end of the evening.  When I needed to use the restroom, I naturally went into the women's.The next day I met her best friend Melissa and we all went up into the mountains for brekkie.  I later got to meet TW member Christina, and then Julia, Josie's very pretty 16 year old daughter. I cooked dinner - salad, stuffed mushroom caps (baked in wine), and my rosemary chicken.  Yum!We were going out to another gay bar where the local GLBT organization was hosting a show.  After finding a flea bag  motel nearby, I got dolled up again (in a different outfit), and we went to the show. Some of the performers lip synced their songs, some sang live.  The hostess of the show jokingly called me a bitch because I corrected something!  Her name is Brandi, and she made sure I knew she was just joking.  I told her about me being a representative of TW, and how I am the editor of the Tribune.  The next thing I knew me and Josie were introduced to the entire club!  I have Brandi's card and will be interviewing her, and others, for future Tribune articles.I wish I had walked around more.  I had on a bit of a short skirt, and I love showing off my legs!  The next day I had a mid-afternoon flight, and while it was very difficult to say goodbye to Josie, I am grateful for the time we had.I had a follow up appointment with my doctor yesterday, and good timing for that as well.  My right knee has been killing me, and he thinks I might have pulled, maybe even slightly tore, a ligament or two.But the big news is that he is now referring me to an endo.  I had one before but had to leave him when I got new insurance from the museum.  On Monday the endo's secretary will be calling me back with an appointment date/time.  SO - FINALLY - it looks like HRT will commence very soon.  I told Josie I might even have boobs for her to play with by the end of the year.

Yep, it's been a while since I last posted.Sure, I could regale you with more musuem stories.  I might save those for a book!I am FINALLY going to be seeing Josie in a few weeks.  It has been far too long.  We had one or two communication problems lately, but we resolved them.  We can handle the long distance thingy, but we do need to get together more often, like we used to.  However, finances kept up apart.  Now we can get back to seeing each other more often.I am also getting out to L.A. to visit Lilienne.  Watch out!As the new editor of the Tranny Tribune, I am excited over the ideas that me and Katie have to really move this publication further.  It's a challenge, and I am ready for it!I'll have more details on my HRT and transitioning in a few weeks.Girls, PLEASE go on You Tube and type in "Janelle Gilbert," a very dear friend of mine.  She has three live acoustical performances posted. You'll love her songs, and she is so cute, too!  Then post a comment about how much you liked her music.  She is amazing.Anyhow, this is just a quick HELLO!, and that all is fine.

Here's a little update on my HRT:As I mentioned before, the doctor put me on some new meds for my high cholesterol.  We did another blood test last week.  While my bad cholesterol was down, my liver count rose a little.  Not a lot, but enough for him to notice.  There is no danger at all, though, so it wasn't anything to worry about.  He took me off the meds at once and wants to test me again in two weeks. He brought up how he wants to do this before sending me to the endo for HRT.  The blood test will be done in two weeks, and he'll call me with the results.  If that looks fine, and the liver number goes back down, we'll proceed from there.  He did say that the meds can play with the liver count. The other big news - for me, at least - is that I heard back from the publisher concerning the 100% review.  As I expected, they are requesting some revisions, and what they want should take me only a few days to complete.  I have the next several days and/or evenings set aside for this work.  Once this is completed, and submitted, I get that long overdue paycheck as the book then moves into production.  That means my bank account can breathe a little easier.Josie is doing fine and kicking butt at school.  She also had a great interview for an internship spot.  But that's her story to tell.I am finally off this almost month-long bad mood.  A lot of things were getting to me.  But I am fine now.Last week, on Thanksgiving morning, I drove out to Indiana to go help out Carlita, who was having some car trouble.  On the way back I heard something on the radio that I hadn't heard in years (and I mean in YEARS!).  It was Arlo Guthrie's infamous "Alice's Restaurant."  What a pleasure! You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.

Yuck.  Starting this weekend the museum is going on the holiday hours. Yuck.  But at least for now it's just the weekends.  The extra pay is nice, but, yuck.  By the way, did I say yuck?  We won't go on full weeks of extended hours for a few weeks yet.I have put in for a couple of higher positions at the museum.  One is a temporary spot, which means when it is over I merely revert back to my current position.  The other is permanent, working in developing educational programs, and most likely will not require me to work any weekends with the exception of an occasional workshop on a Saturday.  We'll see.I'm also getting out applications for teaching spots.  I am not applying for as many as I usually do.  I'm being more selective.  So, for now, me and Josie are putting making definite plans on hold until we see what will happen over the next few months.  If I get one of these spots locally it will make more sense for me to stay here for now.  If not, I might very well be making Denver my home by next summer.I already spoke to my ex about this.  She said while Obama's election may mean better opportunities in the Chicago area, she is considering a move out east, should a good position come open.  We both want to do what is right for our kid, who is at the top of her 5th grade class! As for my kid, she turned 11 last weekend.  A pre-teen.  Oh, dear.Otherwise, now I am waiting to hear from the managing editor of the book about any changes that may need to be done so we can move this into production.  One of the other editors there said they would like to work with me again.  Now I am thinking of new projects to propose!

After a month of furious work on my one book, I now have everything submitted to the publisher, and can now take about a week or two off from writing.  I do have other projects I want to work on, but none with any pressing deadlines.  Finally, some rest!  Yes, I am still teaching two classes, and working at the museum, but now most of my evenings are free for myself.Once the publisher reviews the materials, and any last changes are made, I get myself a nice little check.  I will use some of that money for a long overdue trip to L.A. to visit Lilienne.  When I told her we'll destroy civilization she simply said "In L.A.?"  It is my hope Josie will be able to come with.My kid turns 11 this Sunday.  Her party is Saturday, and I am going over to my ex's house to help them out with getting ready.  Three years ago this would never have been possible!  While I will never get back together with my ex, nor do I want to, it is nice that we have finally re-established a friendship.Until the next fight!

Girls, as the new editor of the Tranny Tribune, I want you all to think about contributing.  You do not have to be a regular, if you do not, but think about it.  Let's say you're attending a special TG event.  Take some piccies, talk to a few people, and write up a piece about it.  Know somebody prominent in your local TG community?  Get an interview!  Got an idea about what it means to be TG?  Write an article!Josie is doing just fine.  I hope to get back out there very soon, although I do want her to visit here again so she can meet my family.Am I THIS CLOSE to finally being fully out at work.  If I can, this Friday I will go to work as Meredith.  Yes, I know it is Halloween, and it might seem like I am cheapening who I am, but it is a way to start to ease them into it.
