Got thru the XMAS holiday. I know the origin of the holiday is of a "spiritual" nature ie christian - but it seems to be a "secular" ie commercial holiday. What ever I had a good time - we cooked too much - we still have French onion soup left over - it will keep. We made creme brule but it never made it to the dinner table - hopefully that will keep- we'll have deserts for a week.

In reading the forums - my daily activity - I was surprised by the reaction to the Pope's Christmas message - I didn't think anyone listened to it - I never did. I was brought up in a Catholic family and never even knew that there was a Christmas message. It would probably get the same reaction as anyone else's Christmas message - a big "so what?"  At present and for some time, I don't belong to any church - to me a church is the trappings of a religion and a religion has nothing to do with "spirituality." A religion is a political group which peddles its influence as much as it can. Good for them and anyone who feels that they speak for them. I have no argument with anyone who goes to church and reads the bible. If it makes them a better person - great. My relation with the Deity is my business and I try not to preach my beliefs to anyone else. I guess that's my Christmas message.
