We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. What effect does female hormone therapy have on a male, and how... moreWhat effect does female hormone therapy have on a male, and how soon?
The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

I shall travel to the heart of European super bureacracy tomorrow. Right now I am troubelling my head with thoughts about what to pack with me for a cozy stay in the hotel room in the evening and how to manage the airport security. I have not flown for years and the present rules are totally new for me.
I shall obviously have to pack anything girly into the luggage I won't have with me in the cockpit. It would race unneccesary questions if the security control discovered certain items in my hand luggage. I do not know whether it would be a good idea to wear tights under my pants during the flight. I have heard that you would have to take off the shoes before boarding. Maybe I should also remove nail polish from my toes.
Good morning, everybody, over a lengthy period of time. It feels great to be among friends again. And this site looks so much better now than it used to.

I am soon going to visit a well known Central European town that accomodates quite a lot of European bureaucracy. This makes me somewhat nerviced as I have not flown for years. I obviously need to take more luggage with me than would be normal for just one day. I do want to change in the hotel to wear my black dress and stand on my heels. I'll have to appear in my public male capacity during the day, though.
I hope everybody is well and I invite all those to jump and scream who still remember what it means :-) less

The people of this mixed catches, some people just laugh ... Some with me just do not talk. Almost no friends, there is a transgender friend, but they are in other cities of Russia and Kazakhstan. The guy from Baku, Azerbaijan, said that in love with me, but it is far, but I'm not sure that love can survive distance. I want to fly. And I believe, I'll fly! less

I didn't realise I hadn't popped in since January, have I really been that busy? If so it doesn't appear to have been earning money .
The last few weeks have been fairly hectic, but in a good way. My eldest (C) has had a college interview and an offer of a place, my youngest (M) is still under review and may get a secondary place at a proper school before the end of the year, his Austism test is in April. C was confirmed with High Functioning Autism/Ashberger's in October, after a mere 8 years, we're striking while the iron's hot for M.
I'm working towards closure with my councellor after 4 years, it seems I finally have my Depression under control and can be re-released into the wild once again, fingers crossed.
I've also managed to lose a dress size somewhere (down from a 20 to an 18, UK sizes) and my wardbrobe has grown ever so slighty, and now my boys know about my transvestism, I decided they deserved an explanation... less

Today we M's (my 11 year old) GDC (Govenors Disciplinary Commitee) to see if they uphold his permanent exclusion from school or if he can return. He didn't get off to a great start and has been let down quite badly by the school, inspite of our efforts to inform them of the problems he has. I'll be glad when these few weeks are over and M can get settled somewhere full time. He is currently at a Pupil Referral Unit and having one to one lessons as he is th only year 7 there, he's having a great time and doing some greta cooking (spag Bol) yesterday, chocolate sponge last week), he's also going Horse Riding.
Any hoo I'm going to enjoy the sunshine, mow some lawn and weed a drivewayand make the most of the day

Looks like I'm not going to get much gardening done today, so after a bank run I'll have time for a bit of a pamper, as everyone else is out at school, I can have a nice long shower or even a bath and shave all the bits I can reach, and then do my nails and sort my clothes. I may even by something new while in town.
I'm going to enjoy my few hours today hope you all do too

I'm trying not to spend it foolishly, as I am eight sizes smaller than I was four months ago and I NEED CLOTHES THAT AREN'T FALLING OF ME!! Add to the mix the fact that I also need a hair cut, color and eyebrows. Oh, also my car is making funny rattling noises. Plus I have a friend who has had nothing but bad things happen to her lately. I want to take her to a movie. Poor thing. Okay...so, that pretty much takes car of most of my money. And I thought it would be tough to spend it....

At least it allowed me to transition, get facial surgery, live fulltime, etc. I don't have much money, like ever, but I am able to just be Zoey, which is fortunate since she is me.

We have entered the date that symbolises the Trans Atlantic friendship and sisterhood of all tranny kind. July 4th is an American day that we join to celebrate with our sisters across the pond.
I remember having made a post at this place on July 4th for 5 or 6 years ago. Back then I shared 2 pieces of music for the day. Please accept them again as a token of my Trans Atlantic friendship:

I had a broken web connection for no less than 10 hours. It was recovered a few moments ago. I obviously wrote an angry complaint letter to my ISP.
I am also slightly hung over. That is easy to cure, though.
