We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. What effect does female hormone therapy have on a male, and how... moreWhat effect does female hormone therapy have on a male, and how soon?
The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

I'm not trying to let them grow but I would like them to look neat. The trouble is they keep chipping so that I have ruff edges. This means I have to spend a lot of time with a file to keep them smooth. Is there something I can use to help with this?
A little while after posting a response to the Vector electrolysis thread, I ran across this in the latest issue of Lucky magazine. http://www.sephora.com/brId=nono.... moreHi Girls-
A little while after posting a response to the Vector electrolysis thread, I ran across this in the latest issue of Lucky magazine. http://www.sephora.com/brId=nono. Has anyone tried it? It seems a little spendy to me for what is essentially an epilator. The claim that after repeated use you will see a reduction in the amount of hair and that hair growth will finer would seem to apply to any epilator, or for that matter, waxing. The idea that warming the hair as its yanked out somehow makes it more effective or long lasting seems somehow farfetched to me. Or who knows, maybe there's some Star Wars light saber technology involved or something like that.
However, even though I think $250US is a bit steep, if one of you girls want to buy me one to try out, I will be more than happy to road test it, so to speak, and let you know how it turns out. No really, I mean it...no need for thanks.<g> I'm happy to do it. Or if anyone has already tried it, how did it turn out for you?

Not really a 'tip' but did'nt know where else to post, lol.
Ah, my local Beauty Salon is my haven. Its wonderfull to go to, the girls all know me now and its so friendly and peacefull. My personal 'time out' which I look forward to.
I usually go every three weeks to have my eyebrows waxed, shaped and tinted or my eyelashes tinted. This is my main extravagance - although its surprisingly cheap where I go - but I think its so important and goes a long way in helping you feel more feminine.
For a special Christmas treat for myself, I booked in for my eyebrows, eyelashes, a facial and a manicure. It was two and a half hours of absolute bliss!
I had no idea how gorgeous and wonderfull a professional hand massage could be!
After an entire afternoon of pampering I was so relaxed, so glowing, so happy, I will definately find more reasons to 'treat' myself!
Anyway, just wanted to remind everyone - not that you need reminding - just what an excellent resource your local Beauty Salon is!

I work predominantly outside and at home we've central heating so on occasions my face tends to dry up, this is when i moisturize but am i right in think that regularly doing so would only make my skin soft and more prone to drying out!!!

We've all heard of permanent cosmetics to simulate makeup. The same technique can be done to enlarge those teenie male areolas that give away an otherwise brilliant pair of breasts. The technique was developed for post-op mastectomy patients. It says they work with the surgeon. Apparantly to create the new aureola around reconstructed nipple. There are three links on this page that show amazing results.

If they can do that post mastectomy, think what they can do for you.
This service is in NYC, but I'm sure they are elsewhere since this is a worldwide tragedy. less

We've been having UV levels in the extreme high(cancer alert) plus my fine Irish ancestry gave my "whiter than white"(as the old soap commercial said)skin. I'm prone to burning and blistering so I don't cover up and wear sun-blocker when I go out.
I would like tan legs. I'm using Jergens self tanning cream but it's only "medium." I'd like it to be darker but not too dark-- It would look a bit strangs.
My wife is using spray on stuff but it's just temporary and washes off in the shower. Also, she thinks it's too light.

I've talked to my doctor and he says nothing can be done unless it affects my eyesight. Well, it hasn't bothered my eyesight but it makes putting on eye-shadow a problem. If I use a dark shade of eye shadow I look like halloween...eeek. {No offense Maryanne but I'm not into Goth}
Any suggestions? That's besides surgery..too expensive and too dangerous, I'm told. less
