We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. I had joined a couple of "straight" dating sites where the only option for gender was the binary "M" or "F". I'd check "F" but in my profile mention that I was a special girl with a little something different down below. I left it at that as far as being a trans woman while creating an interesting profile designed to attract an inteligent, well rounded, but open minded person.
I was very surprised at the number of men who reached out to me that actually understood just who I was and stated that they were very interested in learning more about me and wished to meet up, a typical response in a binary world. In further communication, quite a few expressed that they were totally fine with dating a passable trans woman while some fit into that "admirer" or even "chaser" mode as described in the thread earlier. Throughout our communication, I make it clear that I'm not your typical girl but do not say I'm trans unless they bring it... less

As his actions are going to make aa lot of diffrence for me as for every girl in the World and dispite of the fact that the US government is not picking my pocket I am hereby making an invitation to all my American sisters.
1. Please go to your local registration office and registrate yourself as a democratic voter.
2. Come November, go to your polling station and vote for Barrack Obama. Also vote for a Democrat in your congressional district. If the incumbent senator in your state is running for another term only vote for them if they are Democrat. Otherwise vote against them.
3. Come back and hear my gratitude for having made the World a better place to live in. Also expect loads of hugs and kisses from old Tiina. less

It was an unremarkable ceremony — except that several weeks later, officials realized the shapely bride might not have been a woman.
Now authorities in Virginia, where same-sex marriages are illegal, are weighing whether to file misdemeanor charges against the couple, Antonio E. Blount, 31, and Justin L. McCain, 18. An announcement is expected this week.
A prosecutor says the decision to press charges could turn on whether the pair knowingly misled officials when they applied for a license and later, traveled to a courthouse for a ceremony. If the bride was transgender, and identified as a woman, it is unclear whether the marriage would be considered illegal.
The pair went to Newport News Circuit Court on March 24 to obtain a marriage license — McCain appearing as a woman and saying the name "Justine" before a deputy, said Newport News... less

Members of the Party, who are all stunningly beautiful, will be contesting the forthcoming bye-elections caused by the resignation of Boris Johnson (Henley) and David Davis (Haltemprice or somewhere).
According to the Party’s website:
“The candidates will both campaign on the Beauty for Britain manifesto adopted by the Miss Great Britain Party which seeks to empower women and to make Britain in general and Westminster in particular more glamorous places. Key manifesto pledges include the right to full tax relief on child care for all working mothers: the rights of women everywhere to equal pay: a commitment to fair pay for Britain’s armed forces; British voters to be given a referendum on continued membership of the European Union; and a pledge to launch a true British Bank Holiday to celebrate British beauty.
Underpinning the campaign is the pledge to make Westminster... less

Although the count of the votes in this Referendum to pass the 28th. Amendment of the Constitution Bill, allowing the Irish Government to ratify the E.U. Lisbon Treaty, is still taking place, all estimates indicate that the Referendum has been lost, by a sizeable majority!
Dermot Ahern, the Irish Justice Minister, at 1 pm Irish time, confirmed that the "No vote" had been victorious!
Due to this result, the Lisbon Treaty can not be Ratified, and as it requires ALL member states to ratify it, the Treaty cannot be passed into European Law.
It'll be interesting now to see what happens, as it was claimed that, without ratification, "chaos" will reign in the EU "Corridors of Power", as, without the Treaty, the day to day administration would be unable to function properly!

As you know I have been following the Primaries closely and what a fascinating race it has been. I can imagine my American sisters may be a little tired of what is probably wall-to-wall coverage but the politics has a rawness that is lacking here. In Britain you cannot run for the highest political office. In America you have been nominating candidates to run for President, here we have a Prime Minister who wasn't even elected by his own party. There you have political adverts, here they are banned; there you have televised debates between candidates, here it is unknown. So the whole process has an interactive feel to it that is sadly lacking in Britain.
It appears that Barack Obama has at last secured the Democratic nomination. But he has done so on a losing streak when all the momentum seemed to be with Hillary Clinton. Now I'm no particular fan of hers but I have to admit a grudging admiration for her fighting qualities.... less

It was reaching a point where McCain could just sit back and let the two rip each other apart.
I also believe in the past democrats were able to overlook the Clinton scandals, but now it is time to start fresh. The Clinton era is now effectively over.

Being Sunday, when I'm off work, I enjoy "getting into" the Sunday papers, catching up on the stories and comments I may have missed over the previous week.
So, I came across this Leader in one of the "Sundays" today, and thought it would be interesting to hear your comments about it.
Basically it says that Hillary Clinton is so desperate now, that she could be planning what the Leader writer describes as a "scorched earth" strategy.
Senior Democrats aparently feel that, despite having no realistic chance of bearing Obama to the nomination, she will refuse to drop out. Thus the final choice will be left until the Convention in August.
This would lead to huge divisions within the Party, with the likely result that, although Obama would win the nomination, he would lose the Presidential Election to John McCain.
This would leave Obama looking a spent force, and pave the way for Hillary Clinton to have another shot in 2012.
McCain would, by then be 75 years old, and considered too elderly to... less

These individuals, most notably Drs Zucker and Blanchard, refuse to accept the scientific facts concerning the physiological causes of GID, and advocate psychiatric treatment, defining all transsexuals as autogynophilic, even to the degree that they feel that in extreme cases, inpatient treatment is necessary, including the commitment of patients to facilities they would share with various types of sex offenders.
Yes, you heard right, sex offenders.
The DSM is the guideline used by insurance companies, government agencies and other entities in addition to the medical community to define treatment criteria for a variety of illnesses.
In light of the American Medical Association's recent acceptance of the evidence of physiological conditions causing GID, this stone age insistence that the condition is a pathological psychiatric disorder flies in... less
NEW YORK (AP) - Think twice before you sign up for an online service using a fake name or e-mail address. You could be committing a federal crime.
Federal prosecutors turned to a novel interpretation of computer hacking law to indict a Missouri mother on charges connected to the suicide of a 13-year-old MySpace user.
Prosecutors alleged that by helping create a MySpace account in the name of someone who didn't exist, Lori Drew, 49, violated the News Corp. (NWS)-owned site's terms of service and thus illegally accessed protected computers.
Legal experts warned Friday that such an interpretation could criminalize routine behavior on the Internet. After all, people regularly create accounts or post information under aliases for many legitimate reasons, including parody, spam avoidance and a desire to maintain their anonymity or privacy online or that of a child. This new interpretation also gives a business contract the... less

' Like the Roman,' he said, ' I seem to see the River Tiber foaming with much blood.' It was a phrase he originally intended to deliver in Latin, that he did not gave to history the Rivers of Blood. Even in 1968 it was inflammatory in tone and content. And regardless of ones view it was racist. Something Powell himself acknowledged when he said, quoting a constituent, that in 15 or 20 years the black man will have the whip hand over the white man; and how " I can already hear the chorus of execration." He goes on to speak of charming, wide-grinned piccaninnies. So we can have little doubt, especially in our more sensitive times, that it was a racist speech. But was he wrong when he suggested that a curb must be put on immigration? That immigration leads to ghettoisation. That alien unassimilated communities threaten the native culture. It is ironic, perhaps,... less

Sexual Fidelity.
Is it relevant today ?
Do you suscribe to the act of being faithful to you partner ?
Would you knowingly become involved with someone even if you knew they had a long term relationship with a Girl Friend / Boy Friend ? and when I mean involved,i mean happily have sex with them ?
I ask because I have myself always been a faithful partner when I have been in a relationship whether a short term or long term ...you do not know if its either till the passage of time.
I have never knowingly have had sex with someone who is in a relationship.
If you have and it lead to a break up of that relationship did you feel any guilt ?
I know many who have been loyal and faithful to their partners/ wives/husbands.
I am suprised at how many people are just fine either... less

Now, I am all for speaking out about issues which I hold dear and would expect others to do the same, so if the hijaking of this event by politcal activists gets some attention regarding China's human rights record, I suppose it is a good thing. What a pity that it took an event held once every four years, and one that is supposed to bring nations together, to acheive some widespread recognition to this cause.
Perhaps governments worldwide felt that since it didn't affect them, there was no need to do anything about it?
I would be interested to hear others thoughts on this subject.
