We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. What effect does female hormone therapy have on a male, and how... moreWhat effect does female hormone therapy have on a male, and how soon?
The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

I know theres some stuff that does work, but in a sideways way. and a range of files that there is no practical way of uploading.. e.g. 'png' graphics..
just wondered if anyone actually had this stuff written down.
specially interested in 'server side includes' and 'css' files...

I.e. no indecent icons and no crude language in the moderated chat rooms.
The idea is to keep this sort of 'rule' in a seperate file, I can write it but its not my site, so its up to everyone, if people want some guidelines, more aimed at new commers, we should know the rules such as they are.
Probably best if the chatroom moderators stick some bits foreward too about what is and isn't going to be tolerated in chat.
So then.. Should we have a place for 'rules' and if so what should they be..?

can't get it to find anything no matter how I enter information. Cannot even find my own Forum entries. I get "Total Results: No matches to your search" This has never worked for me. It makes it difficult to follow up and to avoid asking questions on topics that have been discussed. I am fairly certain that others have the same problem. Does anyone have any input on this? Thank you.

This forum is intended for all manor of technical issues, hopefully we have all hit the same problems over and over again, and hopefully one of us has either solved it or found a way round it. Hence the forum, spread the word etc.
Seriously though it is most useful anywhere but especially in a technical forum if you use a message title that covers either the problem or at least gives a good hint. Also It would be helpful if you are having issues with the internet or TrannyWeb if you could post the Operating System you are using and the Internet Browser in your post. It shouldn't matter but frequently it does.
E.g. I'm using Windows XP Pro with Internet Explorer 6, I also have SuSE Linux 8.1 Pro with Konqueror 3.
If you have questions outside of TRannyweb, i.e general setup or security issues, or even simple questions along the lines of how do I do 'X'? feel free to post them, I'm sure someone has come across a solution. less

any recommendations for Email Software other than Outlook or Outlook Express? I use Outlook mainly because I know what it can do, like the way it intergrates with all the other Office software I use because of work and because I can set it up to run the way I want to.
I have to admit to setting it up with security as a major concern so no downloading of pictures unless I say so, no reading pane or preview and of course full antivirus scanning of all incoming and outgoing email. As I use Yahoo for my email I have a second level of AV through them, which also limits the amount of junk coming in.
However I am open to suggestions of other systems, especially if it makes my system safer. less

I see some light at the end of the tunnel. The data Center appears to be back up to speed now and we've had no network problems today (so far).
Also, Eric has ingeniously split the Trannyweb community site between our two servers, so now one server does the PERL and CGI processing while the other serves up all the images.
This should mean that things run noticeably faster than before.

When I access the blog area I get my screen to put up my blogs, but there doesn't seem to be a way...at least to some one as computer illiterate as me...to find other girls blogs. Please explain Is it restricted to paying members??
