We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. I had joined a couple of "straight" dating sites where the only option for gender was the binary "M" or "F". I'd check "F" but in my profile mention that I was a special girl with a little something different down below. I left it at that as far as being a trans woman while creating an interesting profile designed to attract an inteligent, well rounded, but open minded person.
I was very surprised at the number of men who reached out to me that actually understood just who I was and stated that they were very interested in learning more about me and wished to meet up, a typical response in a binary world. In further communication, quite a few expressed that they were totally fine with dating a passable trans woman while some fit into that "admirer" or even "chaser" mode as described in the thread earlier. Throughout our communication, I make it clear that I'm not your typical girl but do not say I'm trans unless they bring it... less

I have just joined this site.
A middle aged UK resident from the West Midlands I have been TV for as far back as I can remember. I am happily married to a very understanding lady who is still coming to terms with all of this. A lot of pain and hurt has gone on but we are now slowly making progress. On saying that not everyone knows about me - hence no picture.
I hope to be in contact with a great number of you in the future.
So I've had to come back!
I've been back 5 minutes and feel at home again already. Hope to catch up with sone of the fab people I met up with before.
Speak again soon
Love
Lucy xx

I play guitar, I love music, particularly Metal and Rock ^.^, I love drawing, manga in particular and I love writing, stuff such as song lyrics and short stories or novels . I was also wondering if anyone could help me with the process of changing male clothes to female clothes and styling hair and doing make up ect, :) Thanks Guys <3 less

I`ve been dressing since I was 20 and as time goes on seem to keep loving it ever more and just wanting to get as girly and feminised as I possibly can! And would so love some t-girl friends to love it all with, chat etc etc. It`s only in the last few months that I`ve come across the whole internet transgender scene, realised the extent of it and how many of us are out there! Have tried a couple of other sites and am already sick to death of men, their c**k pics and monosalavik and lewd messages ( = I wanna f*** u behind my wife`s back - asap!).
Really hoping The Gender Society is what I`ve been looking for and somewhere to meet genuine, likeminded girls.....I`ve got plenty of mates and a full social diary ordinarily, but time really has come for new special friends just like me, new experiences, new places..... One of these days I might even get to 1 of the tranny nightclubs - that would be amazing!! less

Okay....I'm 29 MTF but bigendered which means I'm both genders at the same time just womewhat fluid, with about 70% female. So, I'd like to do hormones and a facial surgery and electrolysis. I also date exclusively women..which basically makes me a lesbian? lol...seriously, I disregard most binaries since few really relate to me at all. The real me is a somewhat butch girly girl (if that makes any sense) just I'm stuck in this male body, which I'm increasingly finding disguisting.
So, yeah I don't exactly fit the mold of a MTF but this is serious. The gender dysphoria is real, the questions and anxiety about transitioning are real....
so hope this doesn't sound like me being in bad taste but I've already had the "you're just a wannabe trans chick" and I really don't need that right...period. Like everybody else, I'd like one space in which I can, at least, kinda sorta relate..

I have only just come across this site, seems like a place I wish I had discovered a long time ago. I am half out the closet, my other half knows but likes me to keep it to myself. She doesn't agree with what I do to some extent but she is understanding about the whole matter. Im looking to meet some new friends who are like minded and hopefully lead upto meeting some of you eventually.
