We had to change the name because the word ‘tranny’ became increasingly toxic and we had to change our rickety old software because the developers would no longer support it.
I vaguely remember we had asked the existing members to come up with a new name and Gender Society won. I think a lot of our members at the time wanted us to distance our community from the other cattle market sites out there so we needed to sound more respectable.Trannyweb was a busy and vibrant community though (started in 1999) with lots of people online at any one time. The forums were the jewel in the crown as you can see from the huge number of threads and forum posts (which by the way, are still available today).
The transition to The Gender Society took place in 2011. Unfortunately, a lot of the long-time regulars who used to be permanently logged in, didn’t like the change... less

Gender variant (trans or transgender) people are relatively rarely seen in GP surgeries. Many GPs say that they lack the knowledge to treat those experiencinggender variant conditions and, consequently, they are not confident to do so.The first part of this publication provides an overview of care for trans people that is particularly applicable to GPs. Hormone therapy is central to transgender primarycare, and issues such as assessment and diagnosis are also relevant to general practice. These topics are discussed in greater detail in Annexes C and D. Clinical care for gender variant people should be provided within a framework of good practice that emphasises patient autonomy, allows for the wide variety of needs among trans people and is flexible in its clinical responses to those needs. It should also take account... less

I just wished you were in the states to give such accurate content, but then under this current administration and political conflict I think you might find it quite egregious,
There was a time in the states when we were moving in a very positive direction, sadly we have faltered and at best stagnated our trans direction.

When Trannyweb became the Gender society I gathered a few people to become site moderators lovely helpful team, keeping the site clear of trolls, keeping the home page clear of sleaze and wiping out literally 1000's of spams. Shame that when I stepped back from heading up that team due to studying and work I was unable to devote as much attention as the site needed many of the site and forum mods just seemed to vanish, lose interest. I will always remember some advice Katie gave mewhen in the early days of being a mod, I was verbally abused, it upset me and I threatened to leave,Katie said if someone on your land line gives you grief, do you cut your phone off. The longer after puberty hormone therapy is started, the less effective it is--but not a linear scale, e.g., results are considerably more dramatic in an 18 year old than a 28 year old, but results are not on the average dramatically different between a 38 year old and a 48 year old.
The following effects have been observed in varying degrees--anywhere from little to moderate--with extended treatment. With effective and continuous dosages, most of the changes that a particular body is genetically prone to start within 2 to 4 months, will start leveling off somewhat within 2 years, and be mostly done within 5 years. The leveling may take longer if the testes are not removed. High levels of estrogen will cause faster development up to a point, but not better results in the long term than moderate levels of estrogen..
Fertility decreases. Sperm count drops rapidly. Sometimes it returns to almost normal if hormonal treatment is... less

Some of you may remember me. I am the one who was working in Saudi Arabia until the end of last year. Then, I returned home.

Well, I am back, and things are going pretty well; although, I could use a job. :-)
My wife has been much more accepting of the female me, and while not perfect, I can't complain a whole lot right now. Related to this, I may be modifying my name on this board soon, as I assume a name that my wife will actually use with me (I hope. ;-) ). More news to come on that front.

I guess that it is true for some if not most people. I think that I can be one of them. Work is also harder because who would want to accept someone who has changed. Has anyone met anyone in person who faced that delima and did not know what to do think or say? It is hard to live such a life and be able to go on knowing what support you have in your local area. I think that it is nice to have such good support here with the ladies who understand and can help you thru it.

Penny has just posted pics of herself on her Kawasaki 1000cc on facebook. Nikki has mentioned her Honda. I've posted pics of some of my bikes.
I wonder how many others have motorcycles in their past or current lives.
I've owned a Honda 350cc Scrambler, a Royal Enfield 700cc custom, a Triumph 650cc TT, a 900cc Harley Sportster road rat, a few Triumph Trophy 500cc's and a few more that passed through my hands briefly when I was partner in a 1970's custom bike shop.
I've know quite a few Lesbian and F2M bike owners, as well.

I would think that this would be a good enough site that even if you were a member although I am not yet, that you would be able to see who they are by their photo verses just a picture in its place. It is ok if they feel insecure but I just thought that they might like to be more open. On another note would someone be able to tell me what other sites there would be out there that are similar to this one?

Believe it or not, I actually read the little status updates on the left side of Forum posts. (I use mine as a blog, or at least as close to one as I'm ever going to write.)
Two dogs and a parrot!, you've got me interested....
I've got two dogs, and I'm sure many others here do too. But the parrot? Are you minding it for a pirate friend?
I once lived half a block from a pet shop that had a gray parrot - the most foul-mouthed bird that probably ever lived. I really, really wanted to make him a part of my life, but he (I think it was a he) cost about 2 months wages and I just couldn't manage it.
He was, according to the shop owner, about 60 years old then. I'm almost 60 now myself. I'm old and he is still young, or at least middle aged.

I have also told her that i do not like or enjoy taking any forum to a low level but i "will not" be insulted in any forum , i do not put up with it in my day to day life and will certainly not put up with it here .
After exchanging a few emails i can see that Katie is trying her hardest to help the transgendered community without sinking to the low levels of other websites which is also what i am trying to do through the media .
If it is of any interest to any of you the first artical revolving around myself is going to be published in the Diss express on the 20th of august , it has been agreed it will then be followed up by 3 other newspapers as an even bigger story to hit a wider audience to try to get the message out that we are human beings with feelings and have a right to live... less

That being said, I'm going to inject a substitution word for the hatred that was spewed at me. For the purposes of this thread, we will assume that when I say bundle, as in "bundle of sticks", that is a substitution for an epithet aimed at gay men, but also, it seems aimed at me by an ignorant child.
I have a friend who is slightly older than me (52). Her bf is 19!! That's right, he's still a teenager. Well, you know how boys can sometimes have a VERY young emotional age? Well this kid is an extremely young 19.
Anyway, she doesn't have a car and I know that he has been physically abused by him before. So I got there and he immediately started in on me. He set his jaw as soon as he saw me and soon he was hiding in his bedroom and talking to her in the third person about me. I told him that I was right here if he wanted... less

Transgender University is going to need both a school mascot and a shield/motto, possibly in Latin, but other languages should not be ignored.
I suspect Dr Frankenfurter might not be the image we want but there is a certain madness to the idea of him running up and down the sidelines at a football game doing The Timewarp with the Cheerleaders. After all, most schools treat their mascots as a somewhat humorous figure.
Gender est non fixed could make a lovely subscript to the University shield, or perhaps Gender est in brain
Lets see your suggestions, both serious and humorous. less
