Did I give a damn

    Hi girls

Although June has no fear about going out socially her only day time outs are to the post box at the end of the road or for a walk around the block.

Today she did something out of character she went for a lot longer walk. This morning wearing a summer dress and minimal make up she walked to the local health centre to leave in her repeat prescription. 1.5 miles each way with out hardly a glance. In the health centre just one or two looks as she posted the prescription in the box. Great feeling when she got home.
So this afternoon it was change into a blouse and suit, fresh makeup, comb the wig, different shoes and off she went again. This time to the local shopping centre. I had a walk around shops I usually only use in drab and realised that it feels a lot different looking at girl clothes whilst enfemme. I was going to get a cuppa but that was when I chickened out. I couldn't speak. So it was another walk around the shops and then home. Again hardly a look my way either in the centre or on the route there and back.

June now has the impetus to get out a lot more during the day but still needs a bit of company in the cafe.

It's a pity we are so far apart, we could have accompanied each other. Belinda (my tv partner) wasn't sure what to make of it all when I sent her a text telling her what I was doing. However when she realised that I had girly marks at the back of my heels and blisters on my little toes she knew I had indeed had a good walk.

I have to admit that I may have been read while I was out but I had a great feeling of satisfaction at having met one of my main aims. When I think about the number of girls who get out accompanied then I wonder if I am really mad - 2 walks in 1 day, all alone.

Around here the only things you'll see moving are the emergency vehicles. Being close to the Oxford bypass we hear ambulances going past all night. If I was to walk to the post box at that time I might see the odd pussy and by that I mean a four legged furry animal.

Next time I go for a daytime walk I'll let you know. I was going to pop out today but now have a woman's problem - cut heels. lol.

A month ago I wrote that I was just starting to go for walks to the local shopping centre as June. Since then I've changed my "calling name" at the health centre to Ms Alina Wicks instead of Mr Alan Wicks so I see the doctor as Alina now.

Also I get out a lot more during the day as Alina. Now I walk further, go into places like the bank and have had a chat in the beauty salon about getting my nails done as Alina. Ok there is the odd strange look when dealing with shop/bank assistants face to face but that is to be expected. I really love getting out in my femme role now.

The last time I wore male clothes was last Wednesday evening when playing crib in the local pub. There they don't know about Alina and anyway it's Alan that's registered with the league. But one day I'll have to tell them - good job it's a mixed team.

Yes I do give a damn now.

    Thanks Sandra

It's crib night tonight so that means Alan has to appear. It will annoy me having to remove the make up straight after dinner but I have to live with that for the time being. Still I'll ebjoy the walk to the helth centre and shopping centre this afternoon.

    Thanks again

    Hi Anna-Marie

Well the afternoon walk to the health centre went ahead as planned apart from a big black guy asking me the time. When I told him he looked a bit shocked and asked if I had a throat complaint. No more said.

Once I'd collected my prescrption I walked to the shoping centre to get it dispensed. As usual Superdrug have a time delay and asked me to collect it in 45 minutes. So of to Wilkinson's to buy some food containers but still time to kill. Time for a cuppa. So join the queue, buy my tea and then over to the open plan seating area. Where do i sit? Right where everyone can see me. Finish my tea but still time to kill so I did some window shopping - the jewellers of all places. Collect tablets then walk the mile home.

During the walk home there was one thing I hadn't considered - schools out. So passed lots of kids of various ages but no hassle.

    Another great day.

Have to go to the job centre today - damn it's as Alan.

If ever you get to Oxford I'd love to escort you on a walk. I'm surprised at how my confidence has grown since my doctor saw my pink toe nails.

    June,

Congrats, things are going very well for you and I am pleased it is making you happy.

On a more general theme, a person of any looks/type cannot be refused entry to public premises in the UK based on sex, colour, etc. They can only really be refused if it is likely to cause some sort of "trouble". So if you have the "balls" you can go most anywhere.

The reaction of other people varies in proportion to how "startling" you look. As long as you fit into the range of "acceptable" female appearance most people don't bother to worry. As far as the voice goes talking quietly can sometimes help with moderating it's sound.

Keep on keeping on! The more we go out the more acceptable we become.

    Hi Jan

    Thanks for your support.

There is one place I will not go to en femme and that is JobCentrePlus. They have told me that they will always call out my male name because that is what I'm registered with them as. When I asked to change it they told me that they only use the name that goes with my National Insurance Number. To get that changed means changing my name by deed poll and I won't do that until a decision is made for me by the psychiatrist.

Mine very often are red. Today they are a metallic purple. I often try nail varnish out on toe nails to see what it looks like. Afterall you can leave it on down there to see if you get used to it. My finger nails are quite often just clear because I don't need to remove it on the occassions I need to be in drab.

Pink is my favorite for nails. Although I have started to see if I can get nail polish to match some of my outfits. (All except my black dress).

I thought I'd give a bit of an update on my going out dressed. On Friday I had a doctors appointment and attended as Alina and was pleased to be congratulated on my turnout by the doctor. He also informed me that I should soon have my appointment with the psychiatrist.
From the doctors to the shopping centre and a walk around there before heading home. Once home I changed to male mode for an afternoons work. After work and dinner I changed back to Alina and went for a drink with my partner. On this occassion Belinda stayed in male mode and we went out as a couple. It was a nice time in a pub that we don't normaly use. Especially when no comments are heard.
On Saturday afternoon I had to go to the shops so went in Alina mode again. I now think that my visits to the shops will always be as Alina not as Alan.

    Hi Karen
Yes things are moving along very nicely, apart from slipping over on the way home from the bank this morning.
So it is definitely shopping all the time as Alina now and not Alan.
Also I now have my appointment to see the psychiatrist about my gender transition. It is on December 2nd so I'm feeling a lot better in myself now.

I like something lighter or softer realy. Red is to bold it makes my hands stick out to much. I don't like anything bold.

Sounds as though things are moving along nicely. I would love to spend a day out shopping as Karen. But to cowardly I guess.
Going back over this thread I see I said I didn't like bold colours. Funny I have been buying more shades of red lately.
