Federal Election Commission independent write-in presidential candidate Bennie Lee "Ben" Ferguson campaigned yesterday, June 24, at the "Out and About" GLBT Pride Celebration in Wichita, Kansas. Campaign literature was distributed to the crowd along the parade route as well as to local media represenatives, including the "Wichita Eagle," KWCH-CH 12 television, and "The Liberty Press." ("Liberty Press" editor and publisher Kristi Parker announced that an article regarding Ferguson's candidacy will appear in the July issue. Ferguson appeared briefly in the television news segment of the event as part of coverage provided by KTVH-CH 3.) The candidate met with representatives from Wichita State University's "That Gay Group" and Kansas Equality Coalition Chairman Thomas Witt. Ferguson also chatted briefly with officers from the Wichita Police Department, commending them for ensuring the security of the event by the arrest on charges of trespassing of a local anti-GLBT minister who attempted to disrupt the celebration.
