Have you tried "Veet"? I"ve had success with that brand.
Nair tried to remove my skin.
Since it's your legs, what about shaving? I use a gel and it helps a great deal. Makes the razor work easier.

My 2 cents on the subject is first off, do you have thick coarse hair? If so you need to realize that hair removers disolve the hair right near the surface but there is still up to an 1/8th inch below the surface. The follicle does not snap closed when the hair is removed. Because removers like nair and veet chemical breakdown the hair they can irritate the heck out of your skin causing chemical burns and causing follicles to turn red and swell. The famed pluck chicken look. Lotions like witch hazel and aloe can help cool things down some. If you insist on wanting to use a product such as nair or veet, try the "for sensitive skin" formulas and see if that will do it. Still if you have thick coarse hair you may be better off sticking to shaving or waxing. Another option is using an epilator which basically plucks hairs. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS carefully.

When I do my legs I use womens gillette shaving foam with aloe vera and then after wards i put johnsons body lotion on them and they are really smooth. The razor I use is gillette venus. That helps using that.

    Dedelynn,
As Marsha says, waxing or an epilator should be a better option.
Personally, I use an epilator, and have had no problems at all!
Just one small piece of advice, if you decide that the epilator is the method for you, if you're buying one, make your choice from the "mid" to "upper" priced epilators, as, from personal experience, some, if not most, of the cheaper models are not much good, either at doing the job well, or their motors can, very quickly, "burn out"!

    Hope this helps.............
    Hugs,
    Angela. xx.

Like Angela I use an epilator, but I use it at night just before I go to bed.then I cover my legs in body lotion usually dove, then when I wake up next morning the red blotchy marks have gone and my legs are nice and smooth.

I've used a Venus and an epilator.

The Venus is nice because it does leave the legs looking nice and smooth...for three days or so.

    The epilator...

You want a good laugh, read this. You'll never look at an epilator the same way again. (and the answer is yes, I still use one.)

i'm happy with shaving my legs. i used nair but was not happy with the results.i've never waxed my legs but have used wax on other parts of my body with great results. i find shaving my legs everyday, maybe 10 minutes tops, quicker than waiting every few days.i feel for the stubble, a little here and a little there. if i wait a few days then it became more time consuming. it turned into a habit and now have it down to a science. i always keep lotion on my legs and have never had anything but smooth shiny skin.

I use wax and I'm quite satisfied with the results.I tend to concentrate waxing sessions in the late-autumn,winter,early-spring when thicker, opaque tights/stockings are the order of the day thus hiding the necessary hair growth.During the summer I'll also shave my legs occasionally depending upon growth, weather, what I'm intending to wear etc etc.My lower legs are now 98% hair free whilst the growth on my upper legs is much sparser than it used to be.Hair growth on my arms is also not what it used to be although, from observation here in Germany,it doesn't seem to matter so much if a girl has hairy arms.;)

Try shaving using vasolin. It really helps and is a little messy but leaves legs moist and sexy

    Hi DedeLynn,

I usually shave while in the shower, so the warm water moisturizes the skin and hair. Then I lather up w a shaving gel and use a new razor blade. After I rinse and dry off, I then apply a good moisturizing lotion. That seems to make my legs smooth and soft to the touch. I used to get red bumps, but now I don't. Suspect it was the new blade + moisturizing.

A wet shave works great for me, with a Gilette Venus, and Dove soap, but I also don't really let them grow, I do them every third day so there is barely anything there.

    Hi,

I have to come out as a fan of the Gillette Venus wet shave. Maybe its just me, maybe its an age thing, but I find something pleasing and iconic about the physical activity of shaving your legs.

But that might be just me!

    Much love

I may as well toss in my two cents, not worth even that much really, with inflation and all. After having tried them all, waxing, Nair and all the variants thereof, epilating, etc, etc, I have finally decided that, for me at least, wet shaving in the shower is where it's at. I use the Venus3 and a decent quality, nicely scented, liquid body soap and I shave faithfully every single day from my brows to my toes. It adds about 20 minutes to my morning toilette but to me it's worth it. BTW, I don't use the body soap on my face, I use what I normally cleanse with. One thing you might try, Dedelynn, is exfoliating before you shave, just use a loofah sponge and a good quality exfoliant. Myself I use Neutrogena but there are lots of others on the market.

    Good luck, hon.

    Hugs...Joni Marie

The up side of being a natural blonde is that my arm and leg hair is not as noticeable. However I have quite a bit and I've had a friend shocked by how hairy I am when I had my shirt off and she actually touched my arms and chest. So I don't think too much about people noticing when my arms are hairless. However....I am a golden teddy bear and the frequent discussions have made me to opt for permanent removal of my hair.at some point. Besides I've seen what a pain it is for older men to deal with their beard. They get hard and stiff and difficult to shave.
