Encouraging news on a couple of fronts.

Yesterday, retired Colonel Diane Schroer won her Titile VII action against the Library of Congress. Schroer was denied a position there f or which she had initially been hired when hiring managers felt that despite her years of service as a high-ranking Pentagon officer and as a top secret cleared defense contractor, her transition might compromise her security clearance.

What's notable about this case is that Schroer pursued it as a Title VII gender discrimination case. This might set a precedent by which future trans discrimination cases will be fought by placing the emphasis on gender instead of gender identity. It remains to be seen whether this decision will stand up in appeal.

In Montgomery County, MD, a judge denied the motion by "Family First" to bring repeal of the County's non discrimination in public accommodations ordinance to a voter referendum in November. This defeat will set the precedent for similar cases in other locations.

    Positive news for transgender Americans.
