I have considered about becoming a member once I get a job and hold something steady at my age. In the meantime, I have found that there is a group a few hours away from where I am now in the twin cities. I figured that once I did hold a steady job that I could meet someone half way and find my way to the meeting by getting a ride. They meet every first saturday and are about the closest group that come direct to tgs.any thoughts here?

I think that sounds like a good idea. The things you can learn from a group setting with some that have more expereance can last you a life time. Go for it.
