A TGirl's Wish....

  • September 3, 2010 9:40 PM BST

Deep in my heart lives a spark, that one day grew and became a flame.
A Flame consuming thoughts and identity, revealing the true me.
It was in that flame's light that Michelle was born... (or should I say revealed).

For Michelle has always been here, hidden and sometimes forgotten.
But her presence has always weaved its way through my life, if only I had taken a moment to see.
I lament the time spent living in denial and yearn for life as the true me.

May my journey be swift and peaceful, minimizing hurt for my loved ones and friends.
As I cry out "I just want to be me"

    Thanks Michelle - nicely written.
May all of our journeys be peaceful - swift - I hope not.

    Hi Mary Grace,

The swift part was only for my physical transformation.

As for the length of my life (and yours) another line comes to mind:

    "Live long and prosper"

    Hi Michelle,

Thanks for posting your prose poem. I certainly could see myself in some of the lines, and I'm sure others will likewise see themselves.

Hope folks take the time to read it - because of numerous posts lately it disappeared from the new posts list far too quickly.

    Best,

    Hey Michelle,
I'm not a great fan of prose poetry - I'm a real sucker for rhyme! But I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. I've read it through a dozen or so times and it still strikes me as having a prayer like quality. Especially towards the end. At the same time the opening lines evoke the ever present image of the phoenix which must surely be the emblem of the transgendered? From the flames and ashes of our mistaken birth rise the beauty of our real persona...
Keep up the good work hunni.
    Much love
    Rae
