Call me a purist, but I prefer to read the book before seeing the movie.

Since, from what I remember, we're all familiar with the plot of "Breakfast," I must write that I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I've always had a fondness for Irish literature anyway, with Roddy Doyle being a personal favorite.

The book is a fast read. While some of the story is devastating, it's also a tale of survival. The character Pussy Braden (changed to Kitten for the film) is a remarkable person. This is not a book to pass by.

I highly recommend the book. In a day or two I'll see the film.

For a person who often does professional reviews in history, I sure didn't say much here, did I?

I forgotten about this book, I read this about 5 years ago.

I didn't realise it was being made into a film. I'm not sure how well it'd work as a film but I've just checked the entry on imdb and it looks a decent cast / director etc.

I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the film.

I hope to get to the film this week. Once I do I'll write something up. I love Neil Jordan films anyway. I had one of his readers some time back. I think it was stolen from me.
