Alt characters

Just an odd request coming to you second-hand...

On another forum, a guy has posted that he is having trouble with the alt characters. Fairly modern pc running XP - 'though I suspect that's a red herring. But he can't get the alt codes to work correctly. Obviously he's using the correct codes, using the correct alt key, numbers lock on and no alien debris clogging his keys.

I really can't think what the problem is caused by. Any clues?

    Much love

I'm sure I have a blond hair or two on my head that allows me to ask this, what are alt characters?

    No blonde hairs required hun!

Mainly - I suspect - used by us old timers...

You press the alt key and then a numeric key which then prints a figure such as the copyright symbol or trademark but can be used for borders etc. A google search will provide you with the table of 255 translations. A little outmoded these days I suspect...

    So much love to you

    Rae,
These are not out moded at all, if you type in another language you'll find all the missing accents that you need in these alt codes.
I'm sorry I've no idea why they won't work for this person.

    Huggles
