    I've tried a few out over the years but haven't really been impressed enough to be prised away from the standard word processing software. Until, that is, I discovered...

    ...Liquid Story Binder XE from Black Obelisk Software.

    For my money - which was about $45 or £27 depending on the exchange rate - it pretty much covers everything you're ever going to need. Timelines, plotlines, profiles, photo's, music, to name just a small number of features. And it looks cool to boot.

    It wasn't quite as easy to operate as I'd like but didn't take too long to get up and writing. It does - rarely - have the propensity to freeze up (but that might be more to do with my pc).

    But it's not just for the bigger things in life. I get the impression it's pretty good at handling multiple articles - Tribune contributors take note!

    Only my view you may know better...
