The wonders of language: you

Is it not wonderful how little bits and pieces in what we say or write effect on how we are understood? For me, the English word "you" suggests that somebody is concidering me as a person. Not as a male or female, TV or whatever but just as the person I am.

In Swedish, however, the same word is suggesting to me that somebody wants to come closer to me than I feel comfortable. In fenno ugric languages, such as Finnish or Estonian, it almost sounds like an insult. Native German speakers could perhaps tell what they feel. I am refering to 2nd person singular, in German Du.

Funny thoughts I am thinking today, I know. And this has hardly anything to do with trans gender issues. Please excuse me if I wasted your time.

Writing your thoughts is never waisted time.
