With much appreciation of Christine Shye's corrections:
Carole, a comittee member of out Manchester Transgender Group ( Concord, NOT Northern Concord! ), recently talked about the proliferation of 'Cyber-Trannies' on social media. I have always made a point of only accepting Transgender people that I know personally, or who present with recommendation from my friends. On one occasion, early this year, I made the error of accepting a girl who a) lives only three miles away in Handforth, Manchester b) is a 'friend' on a social-media site of five of my local friends.
At first, she was pleasant and chatty: but, I became uncertain as to her motives when she failed to ever present herself at our Group Sessions in Manchester (Concord) and North Wales (Unique), after I had strongly recommended and advised she join ( to enhance her curriculum vitae at the GIC for her alleged transition. Her excused were paltry and seemed far-fetched.
She started to become a nuisance whenever I accessed the site in the morning, and her questions became increasingly focussed: Examples: 1a) do you prefer sex with males or females or both? 1b) can we meet up on a 'one-to-one' basis? 2) do you enjoy fetishism etc.? 3) have you had 'breast enhancement', or when is it planned? 4) have you had re-assignment surgery, or when is it planned?
My answers, as the questions rained down were always the same: 'We would love to finally meet you'. I explained, initially that in order to gain a Gender Recognition Certificate, it is helpful, but not obligatory in England and Wales, to have demonstrated to the Gender Identity Clinic that you have been in regular attendance at appropriate Group Sessions over two year period of their required supervision. We never saw her or heard of her anywhere all year, and none of the Group had ever met her. I de-friended her on the occasion she asked about GRS.
