We are impatient for our loved ones to understand, but isn`t that also the same with us?. We seem to be impatient towards our loved ones & seem to fail to grasp, how hard it is for them to come to terms with our alto egos. Taking a slow understated route. May take more time, but the alternative of trying to push it, could end in you pushing to far & losing the one you love. As you say, your making progress, & you have a loving wife. So it isn`t like your being shoved back into the closet. As Doanna said. The journey gives the best memories. You may both have a hell of a journey, that will hopefully bring you both closer together & an acceptance of both your needs...

      Kati, I have to say that you are pretty lucky to have Mrs T on your side. From my research into all this, there are precious few partners about, which is really sad. As the wife of Emma, I need other wives (partners, SOs, loved ones) to talk to. They help immensely. Maybe you could suggest she check out here in the SO forum or if this is too close... Transpartners.co.uk is a good site and is only for partners as the name suggests.
      Daisy is right though, keep it slow and understated. It is a huge thing to get your head around and accept. I am still struggling with Em, but it's getting easier, we support each other and we are much closer for it. I've also met some really lovely people here, and on other support sites for partners.

      Elle - thank you particularly for contributing. I shall point Mrs T to the forum here, and to Transpartners. I have tried to facilitate her meeting other SOs but the result hasn't been terribly positive so far. Being more anonymous might be the way forward; she has many years of acceptance to catch up on (it took me years to accept who I am; I can't expect her to be cool with it straight away, and talking to others was key to helping me develop)
      Let's all keep talking and helping each other and one day we'll all wonder what all the fuss was about.
