Doctor doc t' err..

    Hi

I have recently attended a local GP for treatment for a stress-related illness. During the consultation I gently enquired about the distinction between good stress and bad stress (I think there is such - life would be intolerable without the later) and we had a slightly broader chat. He suggested, from what he heard, that I should report back in 4 weeks.

So I have the opportunity in 3.5 weeks time to say, 'Oh, and by the way does living a life of a closet transsexual contribute to significantly to one's stress levels Doctor? Oh, and I know I'm a transsexual so let's skip the foreplay so that I can move forward to commencing on a low dosage of Hormones, is that OK, thanks?'

Now that's a scenario that even unlikely to play out on Eastenders, but the opportunity to broach this with my GP is a real one.

How did you do it, how might you do it?

    Thanks in anticipation

    Rachel

Doctor: "What can I do for you?"

Me: "I believe I have gender dysphoria."

The rest, as they say, is history.

5 minutes in the waiting room was rather nerve-racking. It got better after that.
