    Hi

I was wondering if any of you girls could help a noob once again, could you explain the basics of make up from step one-up or recomend any websites that do the same.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Wendy
Just to let you know so you can update it, my virtual makeup site has changed from http://www.lindapopovich.[...]d1.html to
    http://sandimari.com

I understand your frustration girl, but in just a little while I am sure you will be able to have the look you want in just afew minutes...its not rocket science and just takes a little repitition and experimentation..the main thing is always remember to BLEND ..and wait a few minutes after applying foundation before brushing it off.this helps it "Set"
    good luck!

    Hi
Thanks Wendy and Karen for the feedback on the site.
Makeup is one of those learning experiences where trial and error seem to be the only way to do it. It must be where the saying "Practice makes Perfect" come from. Genentic girls have
a big head start on us since they start playing with their mother's makeup when they are 6 or 7.
One thing that I was amazed by was the way hair color can change your entire look. Even with the same make up and hairstyle just changing the color gives you a brand new look.
    Take Care
    Sandi

    Hi Lucy
I have the same problem. How to learn with out a teacher.
I found a DVD for $10 at transformations. It's supposed to be a how to step by step. Well we'll see. I've read somethings about how to do it. But without seeing I'm lost

Oh I bought the DVD on line.
If you come across something else please let me know.

Here's some sites that may help:
    http://www.myfamilysoftwa[...]so.html
    http://sandimari.com/
    http://www.leenybeeny.com[...]dex.htm
    http://www.geocities.com/[...]up.html
    http://www.susans.org/Sho[...]metics/
    http://www.crystal-cdtg.c[...]up.html
    http://www.alaska.net/~ka[...]uty.htm

Many TG sites have articles and links on makeup as do cosmetic company's sites. Also COSMOPOLITAN and SEVENTEEN magazines are where ggs learn a lot.

Practice, practice, practice. Make mistakes and try again.

JJ is famous for her makeup skills. Ask her for advice on where to look.

this link is instructional DVDs on makeup techniques.
    http://www.glamourboutiqu[...]ex.html

there are a number of videotapes and book offering instruction. Some are quite well thought of. Unfortunately have not found them tonight but the above should keep you busy for a while. I'll check through my paper files.

    Hi Wendy

Some good sites there. I'll check them out when I have more time.
Working 7 days a week leaves no time for Karen.
Makeup has been the most difficult part for me other than not having the right shape to begin with.

Karen, you have the wrong idea. Don't think of doing your makeup as work. The whole idea is just to have fun. Experiment. Play. Become one with the transformation. Let the Girl flow from your fingertips. As your skills improve you will be come more critical and go to the next level of ability. The art of doing your face will change the experience until the journey becomes as enjoyable as the destination. I keep looking at the local beauty school...and thinking....but its probably faster and cheaper and more fun to get some instruction at a place that does makeovers and read some books and magazines and try new looks on me....certainly more relaxing than school.

Wendy I had a responce all wrote out & did something & lost it.
I'm not writing all that again.
The gist of it was your right. I am Karen because of how much I enjoy her. Once I can start to see her in the mirror it will only heighten it. I'm sure that as I get better I will start having fun with it Trying new looks.
Just need to get started learning the basics.

I thought some more about the beauty college idea. Why not buy the textbooks the make-up artists and cosmetology students buy? The Newberry School of Beauty teaches students to work in Hollywood with prosthetics, screen makeup, hairstyling, etc. 600 hrs I believe. Giving it some thought if i end up with a job I can work weekends for 4 months so I can go to school weekdays. I don't think of it as school, but as a hobby vacation. I'm going to price the textbooks and materials.

Claudia taught me how to use a 4-way Buffer last night. My nails are smooth and glassy with no polish on them at all. Supposedly it will stop them splitting. The buffer is cheap. I found moving fingers was easier than moving buffer stick for sides #2-4.

Letting moisturiser absorb into skin for 30 min or so before putting on foundation helps a lot too. Gets wrinkles out a bit and makes the surface more makeup friendly.

I just got a DVD in the mail today called "Makeup Lesson" [he to she]. All I wanted was a starting point. I have some stuff, no idea how to put it on. But I will learn & I will get better with time.

Didn't someone else start this Lucy.
