UK Equal civil marriage consultation

  • March 15, 2012 4:44 PM GMT

As you are probably aware, the government is considering opening up civil marriages (as opposed to civil partnerships) to same sex couples - which has a huge bearing on transsexuals who intend to go on living with the partner who is of the same sex.

The government has released a questionnaire on this subject for the general public to let its voice be heard on this subject and therefore it is important that your views are represented otherwise they could be drowned out by religuous zealots who are extremely antagonistic towards these changes.

For further details please visit:- http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/publications/about-us/consultations/equal-civil-marriage/

Please let your voice be heard by completing the simple questionnaire at:- https://www.homeofficesurveys.homeoffice.gov.uk/v.asp?i=48356xhlqw

Very Pleased to see the proposal :-
individuals will, for the first time, be able legally to change their gender without having to end their marriage
    - Theres hope where there is a movement toward understanding . I remember a forum post about a couple who seemed to be perfectly happy to renew their marriage vows after the "Husband" had Transitioned. I thought this was wonderful.

    Thats Great news,
Having been married 33yrs we do not want to annul our marriage either. My wife does not want a civil partnership or to be known as my partner because people may assume we we are a lesbian couple and she has no leanings that way at all.why are things made so complicated!.Just an excuse for lawyers and town councils to part us from more money.
