Funny, I've been saying that we're nearly there for ages now, thinking this new site would be up and working in just a few days. Months on and we are still only nearly there.
There are a number of problems on the new site which we have to fix before we make it live. We have also just installed two new toys which are not working properly yet so they have to be fixed too. One is our new Profile Badges which you will be able to put on your own web site or in your blogs on other sites around the web.
The other new toy is perhaps a bit more subtle but becoming more needed every day. As we install new software features for you to play with, you may have noticed our main menu getting more and more crowded., We're at the stage now, where we need to have a drop down menu once again so that's our other new toy. It works fine but it needs configuring which will take a couple of days to get right.
In the meantime, my apologies if you think the site is running slow. That's because we are back in Development Mode and so pages are not cached. That means they will take much longer to load. Our developers need that mode though. As soon as the site is live we will go into Production mode and most pages should load within 5 seconds. The site's main page is much bigger but that should still load within 10 seconds.
We are also looking for people to help with the forums at this time so if you think you'd like to host one, please let me or Cristine or Wendy know.
Oh yes, I meant to mention, in case you don't already know, Cristine Shye and Wendy Larsen have taken over as our new forum managers, from Nikki Hollm, who did a great job for a couple of years. Big thanks to Nikki and congrats to Cristine and Wendy who I know will be great!
