No pain, no gain

  Get ready for some disruption girls.  I know I keep saying this site is almost ready for launch.  Well it really is... almost.

   

  Our developers are still putting in the billing module (you know, the one I said was still just a spec in my last blog entry).

   

  A new version of our core software has been released which must be installed for the billing module to work.  That will mean that several of our toys will break temporarily, until they are updated to work with the new version of the core software.  And so it goes on...  A vicious circle.

   

  Behind the scenes we have been very busy working on all kinds of important admin things which are required to run the site, things you may not see on the front end but which are essential all the same.  Our Page Peel thingy is now working correctly and our TG News pages have also been fixed, along with the Profile badges which we had a lot of trouble with.

   

  There are still some items which we will not have however, when we go live but we are saving up to have them recreated for this site.  I'm thinking of stuff like our profile photo vetting system which will have to be written specially for us.  We will also be putting in more toys like surveys and quizzes, games and our new shop.  BTW, have you noticed that we now have over 700 videos in our Video section and it’s growing daily?  Over the coming weeks there will be much, much more to do here.

   

  Be warned too, that the actual day we go live, a number of features will break immediately, because of the change of domain.  I will be spending many hours updating paths and links, API's and licence keys to reflect the new domain (i.e. gendersociety.com rather than this temporary domain - gendersociety.org.nmsrv.com).  I'd guess that within a day or so, things should be settling down and everything will work normally again – I hope!

   

  Thanks for your patience and continued help with spotting things that don't work.  If you have any ideas for making the site better, please let me know them.

   

  I feel a trying time coming up but it should not last long and on the other side will be the best site for TG people on the web, bar none!
