Name change. .

     Hello?

It has been quite a while since even visiting here.

I finally went and dued it.  I changed my name legally to my prefered feminine name.  What a liberating act.  After years and years and years of being in the closit and worrying about how others might judge me i was finally able to do this and let the #$% fall where it may.

Lo and behold it seems not that big of deal.  In this day and age of the internet people are so well informed a transition is not that big of deal to them.  Who would have thought it would be this easy.

I guess it does help too that i managed to relocate to a city where no one knows me so i don't have a history to explain.

I will be getting the official notice papers in the mail this week. With these my intention is to go to the DMV and change my name AND gender marker for my drivers license to female.  All it takes as of a new law is a letter from a recognised therapist stating that i am in therapy and living as a woman full time.

Then with this i will go to the Social Security Administration for a  name change on my social security card. i will be able to maintain the credits i have earned through out my life.

With these two i will change my name at school, i attend a local community college. Then on to the Veterans Administration Medical Center who has been very helpful in supporting my hormone treatment and mental health maintance.

I have been sitting on the fence with this transiton since my first explorations in 2005.  It was not until i decided to relocate in 2010 that i was able to progress to actually strart my HRT.  The VA has been slow to come around to help veterans with gender issues but since OBAMA has been in office there has been tremendous acceptance and support.

My plan is to continue my education and try to be of some help for older gender transitions. It seems that there is a lot of help for those under thirty but almost none for those of us over fourty.  I want to help with that. Mostly because it almost cost me my life several times.  It was only by the grace of Goddess that i am still among the living.

Well i suppose that i have rambled on just about enough so until that time when we meet again. .

      Keep the FAITH.

      Rhonda
