dieting - ugh

    I realize I have a weight problem - I can't seem to break below 190 lbs or 13.57 stone (for my British sisters).  I don't drink anymore or any less (very old joke :-). Since I'm an Army veteran, I go the the Veterans Affairs clinic for my bi-annual checkups. Today the doctor (they enjoy harrassing me) said my blood pressure is too high - either I lose weight (35 lbs/2.5 stone) or I must go on medication. I hate medication so he gave me a diet

    Here it is -

    1. MUST EAT 3 MEALS EVERY DAY

    2. EAT A PIECE OF FRESH FRUIT 40 MINUTES BEFORE EACH MEAL

    3. DRINK 5 -20 OZ. GLASSES OF FLUIDS -CONTAINING ZERO CALORIES i.e.WATER, NON SWEET TEA OR PURE FRUIT DRINKS

    4. LAST MEAL OF THE DAY 3.5 HOURS BEFORE BEDTIME

    5. EAT FRESH FRUIT OR FRESH VEGETABLES FOR SNACKS

    6. EXERCISE 3 OR 4 TIMES PER WEEK - ELEVATE HEART RATE FOR 45 MINUTES

    NO HAMBERGERS, NO FRIED FOODS, NO FAST FOODS, NO CREAMY DRESSING ON SALADS AND NO CHEESE

    AGAIN FRESH FRUIT ONLY

    STEAM FRESH VEGIES, BAKE OR GRILL CHICKEN, FISH AND LEAN MEATS.

    I start with our evening meal.  Should be interesting; maybe I'll get to wear size 16 yet. I hope, I hope.  He didn't mention drinking alcohol - not that I'm a lush but I'll restrict it till the weekend.
