KINKY BOOTS and Zankou Chicken

What a great day out we had together. Shopping, window shopping, found a GREAT cosmetics store....professional level (Hollywood) makeup. Wonderful movie. KINKY BOOTS. Great, sympathetic and respectful human representation of a T girl and her life. She was the most well-adjusted person in the movie and her problems were all because people didn't accept her lifestyle. She wasn't a wierdo, a serial-killer, a sex worker, a thief, a pervert, a joke. The movie being clearly based on real-life made it a wonderful statement for TG lifestyles. Neither was it a Pollyanna view of being TG. I cried twice. I was thrilled, pleased and enjoyed it thoroughly. I must own it when the DVD comes out. I will watch it many times. Every bit as touching as THE CRYING GAME. Just as a movie, I give it **** out of *****.

Afterwards we shopped a bit more and then ate at one of our favorite restaurants...ZANKOU CHICKEN. A whole chicken, garlic paste and tahini with hot pita bread in a quiet, bright shop. A day of smiles, holding hands, being friends, girlfriends and relaxation. A few bad bits, of course, no day is perfect...but we dealt with it much better than the past and both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I hope TRANSAMERICA is still playing when we can next go out. It's playing at The Beverly Center shopping center just by Beverly Hills. There's a tea room nearby and some insanely good (expensive) shopping. Always stubling across name actors shopping there. Maybe we will go window shop on Rodeo Drive for a bit.
