Girls  I would  like to  "dedicate" this blog to  someone I  miss  very  much.   I  dedicate this  "in  memory  to  my  Late   Aunt  Carol"     I  have  meny  relitives that  I  have  beed  very  fond of but there are some  who mean the world  to  me. I would  like  to introduce to you all  my Aunt  Carol. My  Aunt  is someone  who  at  first  if you  met  her would seem  very  "negitive" with  her  attude. Yes  most  who  has  crossed  her  path would say that but  she was a person  of determination in all that  she did. she was  this way  because  like  most  of  my  relitives of  a  family  of 17   grew up this way. My  grandparents where  poor  even though my  grand father  worked  in a    lumber mill as a  Boiler  man every dollar  made  fed his  family. Growing up  in the  40  's and  50 's   my  mom and  her  sister  one  of five  has told  me  meny stories of the  hardship living in thoes  times.   Aunt  Carol  married in 1979 to  a  aboriginal    and  moved to  a  resurve known as  "Bear Island "  located  on Lake  Temagami, Ontario.  As  a "white" woman  life  on the  island   was  hard because  she was an outsider to  most  natives. another fact  that  made thing  hard  was that  living on a  island  in the  far  north was  very  isolated. acess to the island  was  limited at times during the year . In summer  they  traveled  by  steel boat so  all provistions  was transported this way . In fall  boats only  operated  til ice formed  on the  lake untill  it was  compleatly  froze.  In winter once  the  lake  had  over 36  inches  of  ice  a  "ice  road " was  plowed  so that  cars and  light  trucks to  could tavel to and from  the  island. Lake  Temegami  is a  very  deep lake  with  lots  of sholes  and very  little beaches.the lake  has  lots  of  granit rock  and  pleaty  white and red  old  growth   pine. I  takes a  strong willed  person  to  live in a place like this  and my  aunt was like that . In 2002  I  lost  her  to  breast  cancer and  since  then  every  time  I return to  "  B.I "   bear  Island   I  feel  her  spirit there . and  as i  cross  that  ice road  I  know  she watching over  me .  So I like  to  say  "thank you Auntie Carol "      you will  never  be  forgoten and in the words  of the "Ojjibway "     Miggwitch !!       Than you !
