ok ladies the new chat room is going live!

soa few pointers to possible problems...

fisrtly if you get a empty grey box on your screen this normally means you have java turned off or just not installed, the new chat room needs a java machine installing. you can download one from www.sun.com (its not the newspaper either). you want pretty much the latest version you can get as well.

if you get a grey square with a coffee cup at the top left, please wait it should load in a few mins, it can take a while the first time but its faster after that.

if everything works you will get a white rectangle on your screen with a button marked 'connect' in the middle of... push the button and the room will load in a seperate window.

DO NOT CLOSE the window with the button in it, if you do the chat room will also close.

if this works you now have the chat room working..

ok to set sound and video up pick 'AV setup' from the digichat menu, this then does its thing and with luck finds your sound card and webcam. don't worry to much if it doesn't, its nothing you can really do anything about i think.

ok i'm still working out just what this room can do meself, so if ya finds anything out post it!

A follow on to Clair's pointers.

For Private Messages to work properly you have to set your pop-up blocker (if installed) to allow pop-ups from gendersociety.com otherwise nothing will appear to happen.

If you have Windows XP SP2 installed you will need to go into Internet Options under Tools and find Privacy. Here you should see the pop up blocker at the bottom, click Settings and Add Trannyweb to allowed sites.

If you have Google, Yahoo or other popup blockers then you should be able to find something like "Always Allow Pop Ups from..." you may then see a box with a list of recently blocked pop ups, if Trannyweb is included highlight it and click allow. This might vary depending on which system you have installed.

Hopefully that should solve the mystery of no private messages.
