Don't underestimate San Francisco. Has wonderful places including Romantasy Corsets. Get fitted and have it custom made and shipped to Alaska.
Ask Joni Cruz about Spokane, WA.

(Remember HE'S A LADY?)
LOS ANGELES
Here are places that do makeovers, dress you and/or take you out en femme on the town to TG friendly places like clubs and restraunts:
These three are in a three mile stretch of Ventura Blvd, Studio City.
http://www.lydiastv.com/c[...]tes.htm (been there, nice folk, owners are T girl and her wife. Beauty shop in store. Dressing facilities on site for rent. Wide range of styles, from slutty to Mae West glamorous...have gotten some real deals here. Store at site for years...VERY discreet location, parking off back alley...you could go there en femme and never be seen...but readily accessible from the main street. Entrance door perpendicular to the iron fence facing Ventura and just past the fence..North and East. VERY Discreet, But it's safe to try the doors until you find it. Check the days and hours on the site. The site also has a wonderfully long list of places that are TG night spots in L.A. THE QUEEN MARY is closed, no matter what the Internet says, but the "show" has moved to another club some nights)

http://www.countessascloset.com/ (for the shop "we do not carry anything that is not upscale, highfashion or tasteful" I believe it is located on a busy main corner, so easy to find, but appears fairly public with large windows.)
http://www.smoola.com/Com[...]=509602 virtual tour of Countessa's Closet which will make it much easier to find.
Look at all three sites.
http://www.glamourboutique.com (branch of famous Massachusetts store, new)
and don't miss
http://www.wilshirewigs.com in the Burbank area where you can get just about any wig you want in any color and hve it styled. They serve the movie and television industry and sell to males every day. And they have a SHOWROOM full of wigs.
Try to come in June for this:

Hope this helps, Prissy. Let us know when you come to L.A if you need a guide. I'm not going out yet, but some of the girls here are and I can find these shops and know the "safe" zones.

Hi Prissy-
Sorry this is so brief. I do have some places in Seattle for you, but right now I'm about to head out the door to work. I will dig them up and touch bases with you about them this evening or as soon as I get a chance.
Hugs...Joni

Prissy,
I'm likely to be in Virginia during Sept-Nov. However, there are a number of TW girls here and hopefully we will have a local group organized by then, so you might be able to join a TW Girls' Night Out.
In addition,
October 6-8, 2006 The unofficial Gay Days at Disneyland.

October 8th, 2006 L.A. Valley Pride LGBT Awareness Festival
http://www.lavalleypride.[...]lavp/w/
This includes seventy-five uniformed officers that will be onsite to observe the official kickoff of LAPD's employment recruitment drive to the gay and lesbian community. Now I can't miss THAT!
Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn
4222 Vineland Avenue
North Hollywood, CA 91602
Courtesy of Countessa's Closet, the number one fashion designer for the TG and drag communites, Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn will be the official host hotel for LA/Valley Pride friends and guests (thank you Countessa!). To contact Countessa, or to ask for her assistance in making your reservation, call 818/763-9806.

Sept-Nov is a good time. It won't be so hot that your makeup will melt (ok, maybe in September) and it shouldn't be raining much yet. Still, rent an A/C car, for sure.

Here is a new link to GLAMOUR BOUTIQUE #3 - Los Angeles
http://www.glamourboutiqu[...]emp.htm
It has a lot more information on local services than the Massachusetts main store site did. It has a list of TG friendly clubs, bars and (soon?) restaurants similar to the one on Lydia's website but not as extensive as yet....still this is a new site.

Flying dressed has a lot of problems these days. First they want definitive identification, so having a letter from a gender therapist may be a good idea. At the least carry your Trannyweb Membership card. Be aware you may be stopped and questioned extensively (because we all know that terrorists hijacking planes wear dresses) and your luggage gone through (even if you are in drab). This will likely be done in publiic....sooooo, think hard about travel en femme. Oh, and no wearing your stewardess outfit on the plane...that's right out. There are sites with info about flying en femme if you Google them. Also, last time I went through a metal-detector machine they had me give up my wallet and my belt to get through...the belt had a tiny buckle, but.... they said the wallet might have a razor blade in it....I told them I use Nair but.....
Jeri and Kelly at Lydia's are lovely people. So nice, in fact, that I didn't consider shopping there and trying on clothes and shoes "coming out" to anyone, although they were the first people I called myself Wendy in front of. It was more like being in a nice, safe, comfortable walk-in extention to my own closet...full of neat stuff. A great first place to go for me. I honestly have no way to compare it to The Countessa's Closet and Glamour Boutique...yet. Perhaps before you get out here I will have been to both of them.
You are welcome, Prissy, and have fun.
