Political Temperament Poll

  • March 22, 2003 6:26 PM GMT
Personally I like to use the the term progressive when referring to my political leanings. Neither of the terms liberal or conservative make any sense to me.

For example if the our stone age forefathers/mothers had clung to a strictly conservative position we would still be chasing buffalo around with clubs. On the other hand if they had decided to be strictly liberal they would have given the food away and starved to death.

I think somewhere in the center makes more sense to me. I could be considered liberal about many things but also conservative about others. Labels often don't provide an accurate portrayal of reality. I like the term progressive beacuse, as I see it, it gives one the option to follow the best course and viewpoint instead of being constrained by one extreme or the other.

    hi Ladyjane,

Strangly I sent this following message to you on the 13/01/2003, by e-mail, returned to day as unable to send? I wonder if it was censured the french server would not
    send ?

    Hi Ladyjane,

Wanted to place a vote but confused as to which one I should chose ?

    Apathetic/Don't Care
    Conservative/Right-Wing
    Liberal/Left-Wing
    Middle of the Road/Wingless
    Unsure/Depends

I care but being cynic, treat all politicians as the same just wearing different colours as it suits them ! I always voted for the party out of power on the basis that the shorter time in power the less damage they could do !
I'm ultra right wing on some issues and far left on others ! & never really liberal or middle of the road !
Can't say that I'm ever unsure always have a personal opinion , which may be left or right !

Any ideas which category I should chose for this poll ?

As to other items do enjoy your posts thanks , wish I was a better writer of my views to contribute more to the forums !

Just a note though whilst I'm english I live in france ! and observe the politics here with interest & as a non citizen have no vote !

The French politics are by tradition in the past and present time antisemite, and anglophobic, added to that, its french oil companies that have at this time the contracts and control of iraks oil ! Its the french companies (government) , that installed the nuclear installations that israel later bombed ! Also bearing in mind that the present government is in power thanks to the socialist fear of the far right having further gains!
They got over 20% of the poll (National front), who are openly anti all that is not french !
Consequently I can't really see that there peace moves really come from the heart and with any real conviction ! other than self interest !

Still musn't rant and rave its a nice country and the ordinary people are not at all like their government ! but then thats the world all over !

Thanks for listening (reading) keep posting for those of us who simply enjoy reading !

    hugs

    Hi, Ladies--

I have gotten somewhat curious. How many of you would say you are liberal or left-wing? Possibly, you might say conservative or right wing? Are there some of us who might be fencesitters middle of the road in our political leanings? Not too sure, or does it depend on the topic?

Or, do you even really care?

    So...a political temperament poll.

    Apathetic/Don't Care
    Conservative/Right-Wing
    Liberal/Left-Wing
    Middle of the Road/Wingless
    Unsure/Depends
