eye shadow

Here's a question ...and I hope I get a few tips to help.
My upper eye lids are becoming rather droopy from fat. The eye ball is enveloped by this(ugh) fat.
    I've talked to my doctor and he says nothing can be done unless it affects my eyesight. Well, it hasn't bothered my eyesight but it makes putting on eye-shadow a problem. If I use a dark shade of eye shadow I look like halloween...eeek. {No offense Maryanne but I'm not into Goth}
Any suggestions? That's besides surgery..too expensive and too dangerous, I'm told.

    Hi, Mary Grace...
I just had eyelid surgery myself on one droopy eyelid that WAS interfering with my vision a bit. My advice about surgery is to make sure you have both lids done at the same time! The worst part is that my eyes do not match any more. The doctor says it will improve, but the lid that was shortened has a ridge now just above the lashes, so the lashes, instead of sticking straight out, are partly covered by this ridge of tissue. It plays havoc with my mascara! It is gradually getting better, but I miss being able to put proper eyeliner and mascara on that eye that matches the other. I have always considered my eyes to be one of my best features, and it is distressing to have it messed up like that.
I've gone on about myself enough, perhaps, but don't give up on surgery for that. It is a very short procedure, long on healing, but it really does open the eyes up!

Thank you, Ladies, for the info about surgery on the eye lids....I had been told that it was a "risky" operation and didn't alway turn out the way you want.
I tried some lighter eye shadow ....maybe I'll try "virginal" white.
Another problem with the puffy lids is that I can tolerate mascara because it make my eyes tear.
Oh well .... as my dear mother would say "it's one of the joys of growing old."
    thanks again

The latest solution to hiding my baggy eyes comes from my loving wife. I should get a pair of glasses like Yoko Ono wears and let them droop down on my nose....covers the bags under the eyes.
Now for a solution to the fat over the eyes.......

Despite cosmetic surgery you can experiment with lighter shades of eyeshadow and even eyeliner..I have "weird" eye shape and I have found with strategic application of eyeliner and shadows of higher shades i can achieve a bigger eye look. There are some creams out that may work on it also but i haven't researched them..Also if you smoke that will age you very quickly especially in the facial eyes region..I quit smoking but i have darkness under my eyes to show for the habit..I use a concealer there to cover the darkness then make it up with flesh tones to keep it natural looking..I don't go for the over application of make-up to look like a Las Vegas show girl. Though i do go all goth mode from time to time lol but not everyday.

    Age is a terrible thing…
Mine are a bit droopy too. I did read somewhere that using light, natural colours on and just above the eyelid can help to “open them up” a bit, with perhaps a dab of a darker shade on the outside, blended in of course, so that’s what I tend to do.
I’m sure you’ve tried eye creams, cucumbers and so on, they seem to help refresh them a bit. I’ve never tried tea bags though…
The surgery to reduce sagging eyelids is called an upper blepharoplasty, and probably isn’t all that expensive with a regular cosmetic surgeon. Nor is it especially risky, no more than any other surgery anyway. If I ever have FFS that will almost certainly be one of the procedures I’ll have, though on it’s own it’s not something you need to find a specialist FFS surgeon for.
It may be our only real solution to the problem, Mary Grace.
