BOYCOTT THE TRUE COLORS TOUR

This summer, Cyndi Lauper, Joan Jett, the B-52s and various other artists are playing some 25 concert dates nationwide between May 31 and July 5.

One dollar of the proceeds from each ticket will be donated to the Human Rights Campaign, the Log Cabin Republican group that betrayed the transgender community by acting in collusion with members of Congress to exclude transgender Americans from the Employment Non Discrimination Act.

Certainly the artists performing on this tour are under the impression that they are helping the cause by participating in this tour, but they are plainly blissfully unaware of HRC's exclusionary policies concerning transgender rights.

The best way to get the idea across that we deserve to be heard would be to write directly to these performers, via their management. Take a minute and drop a line to:

    Cyndi Lauper

    Joan Jett
    [email protected]

    B-52s
    [email protected]

Let these artists know that transgender Americans deserve a voice that belongs exclusively to us.

Thanks Nikki. C'mon folks....it'll only take a minute, and you can carbon copy the same message to all of them.

Yeah, Joan Jett is still kicking....barely. She has a show on satellite radio on the garage network and she sounds like she's on heroin, but we need to write to her anyway.

Already, transgender advocacy groups in major markets are organizing boycotts and pickets at the venues in their areas where the True Colors Tour will play. Add your voice to the thousands already telling these artists how they feel about their support of the Log Cabin Republicans (HRC) who would deny equal rights to ALL Americans.

This morning, I received an email from Shelley Stertz of The Management Trust, the agency representing The Cliks, one of the groups on the "True Colors" tour. For those of you unfamiliar with this act, the lead singer is FTM, so they have a specific interest in trans rights.

Shelley expressed support for efforts to avoid a boycott by proactively involving the trans community by conveying our message independent of HRC and the LGB agenda within the context of the "True Colors" tour.

This is a step in the right direction, but we need to keep the pressure on. Send your emails to the headliners today:

I couldn't agree more, Katie. Not only Trannyweb, a cause near and dear to us, but IFGE, NTAC, NCTE, GenderPAC. Any group specifically dedicated to the advancement of the trans community.

HRC has pulled the wool over these performers' eyes and has them convinced that they support the complete LGBT spectrum, not just straight acting and appearing affluent gay Republican men.

Surely Cyndi, Joan, Fred and the other rockers on the tour sincerely believe they are doing a good thing for us. We need to keep the pressure on. The more email messages their management receives from our community, the better.

It's official. Despite a positive response from The Cliks, due to their inclusion of a transgender band member, Cyndi Lauper's management has steadfastly refused to commit to any trans inclusive content or support in the context of this year's "True Colors" tour, to the extent, in fact that a brief correspondence with Ms. Lauper's management, consisting of one initial email message and one message in response to their reply has been characterized as "harassment."

This has compelled our national leadership to call for a boycott of the "True Colors" tour, as well as of CD purchases from any of the artists on the tour.

If you would like to let Ms. Lauper know how you feel about this, send your emails to:

Why do these artists think that donating a dollar from each ticket sale to what sounds like a political lobbying group will help the TG cause and especially if that group does not represent the TG community's best interests?

Surely if they want to help our community they would be better off donating that dollar to Trannyweb which is currently in desperate need.

    Hugs,

    Katie x
